The safety surcingles are designed to detach under excessive pressure. This is particularly relevant when your horse is kept in a herd. Check them with each use: they should close securely, but not be stuck.

The neck piece does not need to remain permanently on the rug. You can remove it on dry, cold days; reattach it during prolonged rain.

Then attach the three cross surcingles and the tail cord, and check that you can slide a flat hand between the surcingle and the belly. Attach the neckpiece to the front using the velcro sandwich system. Compatible liners can be added using the liner loops.

The Plus version includes the neck piece. Both models share the same 1680D ballistic nylon outer fabric.

What does Vari-Layer mean?

The filling is unevenly distributed: thicker over the back and loins, thinner over the shoulders. This keeps the warmth where it's needed and allows your horse freedom of movement.

Why safety surcingles?

They are designed to release under excessive pressure, for example, if a horse gets caught on something in the field. This reduces the risk of injury.
