When fitting, pay attention to the wide noseband. It has to stay well below the cheekbone and must not rest on the bony ridge; slide it slightly higher or lower until the strap lies flat. Two fingers of room between the noseband and the nasal bone is a workable guideline. Fasten the throatlash on the same hole on both sides, so the browband hangs straight.

Clear sweat and sand off the leather after every ride, wash it regularly with saddle soap and then feed it with a leather balm. Rub around the crystals dry with a soft cloth and do not apply grease there, so the chain stays bright. After a rain shower, let the bridle dry quietly at room temperature.

If you want a glossy patent leather noseband, a patent model is more what you are looking for. If you have a pony, this model will not work for you: here it exists only in Cob and Full.
