We offer the Oak/Silver version in Cob and Full, and the Black/Silver version in Full. Measure the nose circumference roughly two fingers below the cheekbone and compare the cheekpiece length with a bridle that fits well now.

On a hackamore, the position of the noseband matters more than on a snaffle bridle. Place it high enough on the nose, well above the soft part at the bottom, and check that height every time you bridle up. Adjust the chin pad so that some play remains: the leverage has to be able to do its work before the chin pad tightens, otherwise there is constant pressure.

Build up the use gradually if your horse has never been ridden without a bit. The aids arrive differently, and that takes some getting used to on both sides.

Clean the leather with leather soap and feed it afterwards. Rub the metal of the shanks dry after use and check regularly that the fastenings are secure.

This bridle is meant for riders who deliberately ride with a hackamore: on hacks, for example, in training work where you want to relieve the mouth, or with horses you prefer to work without a mouthpiece. The combination of an anatomical headpiece and substantial padding makes it suitable for regular use.

If you ride with a bit, this is not for you and you would choose a regular snaffle bridle from our range. If you want more refinement in the mouth or you are working on a light contact, a snaffle bridle with an anatomical noseband makes more sense. And if you plan to use it at competitions, first check the rules of your discipline and federation.

This is a hackamore: you ride without a bit, through the leverage of the 152 mm steel shanks on the nose and chin. No. This bridle is supplied without reins; you choose those separately.

Does it come with a bit?
No. A hackamore works without a mouthpiece; the action runs through the nose and the chin.

What do the 152 mm shanks do?
They act as a lever. The longer the shank, the more strongly the aid is passed on; 152 mm is a common mid-range length.

May I compete with a hackamore?
That depends on your discipline and on the rules of your federation. Check the regulations that apply to your competitions.

How do I fit the noseband?
