BR Longridge Bridle

This bridle is offered in size Full, the usual size for a full-size horse. If in doubt, measure a bridle that fits well and compare the length of the noseband and headpiece.

With a U-shaped noseband, placement matters more than with a straight one. Make sure the lowest point of the U sits in the middle of the nose and that the strap does not drop onto the soft area below the nasal bone. Fasten the crank noseband as you would a normal noseband: two fingers of room is enough. When tacking up, also check quickly that the protective flaps are still lying neatly under the buckles.

Keep the leather in condition with saddle soap followed by a balm or leather grease, and wipe sweat and sand away with a damp cloth after riding. Store the bridle dry and on a wide bridle rack, so the broad headpiece keeps its shape.

The Longridge is a choice for riders who consciously watch pressure distribution and who want the quiet fit of a U-shaped noseband. The model suits dressage and jumping work as well as everyday schooling.

If you would rather have a flash strap under the bit, look instead at a bridle with a combined noseband from our range: this model does not have one. If you are after a drop noseband, a drop model makes more sense. And since this bridle is offered only in Full and in black, it is best to check with us in advance if your horse falls outside that size or if you are looking for brown.

What type of noseband does this bridle have?
A U-shaped crank noseband: curved over the nasal bone, with a crank fastening at the back. No flash strap is included.

What does a crank noseband do?
The strap runs back through loops, so the tension is spread over a larger part of the closure. It is not intended to let you fasten the noseband more tightly.

What are the protective flaps for?
They are leather inserts under the buckles and D-rings that stop metal from touching the head directly.

How do I care for the leather?
Wipe it down with a damp cloth after riding, clean it regularly with saddle soap and then feed it with a balm or leather grease. Store it dry, away from direct heat.

May I use this bridle in competition?
Rules on nosebands differ per discipline and per federation, and they change regularly. So check the current rulebook of your own discipline and federation.
