A drop noseband is adjusted differently from a regular one. It belongs on the bridge of the nose, well above the soft nostrils, and not so low that it hinders breathing. Fasten it so that you can get two fingers between the strap and the nose.

If you are unsure about the size, measure your current bridle and compare the headpiece, cheekpieces and noseband length by length. For the reins, check that the buckles at the bit end lie flat.

Caring for smooth leather is simple, as long as you do it regularly. Wipe the bridle down with a damp cloth after every ride, clean it every few weeks with leather soap and follow with leather balm. Always let leather dry at room temperature, never on a radiator. The web reins are washed by hand in lukewarm water and dried flat.

This bridle suits riders who deliberately opt for a drop noseband: on young horses in training, on horses that are sensitive around the jaw, or simply because you like that classic line. It works for daily schooling and for riders doing dressage or jumping.
