Between two sizes? We usually recommend the larger size, unless stated otherwise on the product. In our experience, Italian brands (such as Animo, Cavalleria Toscana and Vestrum) tend to come up small.

Rugs

How to measure your horse: using a soft tape measure, measure from the centre of the chest, over the point of the shoulder, horizontally along the body to the furthest point of the hindquarters. This is the total length.

Always check the brand's size chart. A rug size in cm (for example 125 or 145) is the back length for most brands, and how it converts to feet differs per brand. Some brands, such as Bucas, also measure differently. That's why every rug comes with the brand's own size information.

The table below converts the total length from feet to cm. This conversion is the same for every brand.

Product Information

The HFI uplift bit straps are straps with fine cords, intended for use with an uplift bit. The strap is the connecting part you need in order to use this type of bit with the reins the way its construction intends. The finish is simple and functional, with cream stitching and square stainless steel buckles. You can choose brown or black, in sizes Cob and Full.

About these straps

The straps are fitted with fine cords. On an uplift bit these run through the openings provided for them in the bit rings. The appropriate reins are then attached to the straps.

Because uplift bit straps form part of how an uplift bit acts, correct fitting and adjustment matter. Take your time over it when you bridle up.

In appearance, the HFI straps go with classically finished bridles and reins. The cream stitching provides a subtle contrast and the square buckles are made of stainless steel. Brown and black are available, so you can match the colour to your bridle and reins.

The straps come in sizes Cob and Full; there are no other sizes. Pick the one that matches your bridle and the length you need for correct fitting.

These straps are specifically of interest if you use an uplift bit that calls for separate straps. With a different type of bit, one not fitted with such cords, you will not need them. So check in advance whether the construction of your bit is suitable for use with uplift bit straps.

Fine cords, classic stitching and stainless steel buckles: together they let you complete a suitable uplift bit.

Only use these straps with a bit lifter bridle that is suitable for bit lifter straps. Thread the thin cords through the designated openings of the bit rings and check before each ride that the straps, cords and buckles are correctly attached.

Regularly check the thin cords for wear. Due to their function as a connecting component, it is important to notice damage in good time and to replace worn parts.

For whom?
For riders who use an appropriate elevator bit and need separate elevator bit straps for it.

When to use?
When the construction of your elevator bit requires fine cords that run through the designated openings in the bit rings.

In which discipline?
Only use them in disciplines and situations where the relevant type of elevator bit is permitted.

When is an alternative better?
Do not use elevator bit straps when your bit is not designed for this construction. Also, choose a different size if Cob or Full does not provide the required length.

Thread the fine cords through the designated openings of a suitable Pelham bit and attach the straps correctly. Before riding, check the fitting, adjustment, and condition of the cords and buckles. Only use the straps with a compatible Pelham bit and replace them if you notice clear signs of wear or damage.
