Adjust noseband and throatlash so your horse can chew and swallow freely. Check that adjustment again after a week or two, because new leather stretches slightly while breaking in.

Black leather shows dust and sweat quickly. Wipe the bridle after the ride with a slightly damp cloth, let it dry at room temperature and away from the heating, and give it leather soap and a leather balm regularly. That keeps the colour deep and the leather supple.
