Kingsland Short Sleeve Shirt - Girl

Kingsland designs in Ikast, Denmark, and has made a junior version for girls of its Classic show shirt, Kingsland article number 1000222352. The body is a jersey with a jacquard structure, and under the sleeves sits a lighter technical piqué. Kingsland calls the line tailored: the shirt falls neatly along the body instead of hanging loose like a t-shirt. The logo is embroidered on the left chest and on the sleeve, the buttons carry the Kingsland mark and a striped band runs along the inside of the neck.

The composition is 95% polyester and 5% elastane. The elastane gives stretch, so the shirt moves along in the shoulder; the polyester holds the shape and carries moisture to the outside, which makes it dry faster. Kingsland describes the fabric as breathable, moisture-wicking and quick-drying. The practical feature of this model is the press studs on the woven fastening and the collar: they close faster than buttons and ask for less fine motor control. Kingsland states no tie loop for this model.

For youth classes the colour is decisive. In showjumping, FEI Jumping Rules article 207.2.3.3 requires children and pony riders to wear a fully white shirt, and article 207.2.3 requires all riders to wear a white collar with a white tie, stock or choker; short sleeves are permitted, including with a jacket. In dressage, the FEI sets no requirement for the shirt, but the Belgian rules ask scholars and ponies for a white shirt, and without a jacket sleeves that cover at least the shoulders. This shirt is fully white and has short sleeves. Rules differ by federation, discipline and level and change regularly: check the current rules of your own federation.

What to bear in mind: there is a single size here, and children grow through it within a season. Without a tie loop you have to fix a stock tie with a pin. Short sleeves mean no cuffs, so for a class that calls for long sleeves with white cuffs this is not the model. And as with every white competition garment, sand and grooming grease are the biggest enemy. The fabric weight, the washing instructions and the country of manufacture are not stated online by Kingsland.
