Freejump Air Pure Stirrups

If you ride these stirrups in dressage or hunter, pair them with wider stirrup leathers: the eye is wide enough for a broad strap, and that gives a quieter contact against your calf. Check the studs after a few months of riding. Once the points are flattened, that is the moment to replace them, not when your foot starts to slip. If you often ride on sand, brush the sole out after every ride with a stiff brush; sand left between the studs makes the pattern shallower. Then let the stirrups air-dry instead of putting them away wet in the grooming box.

Choose the Air Pure if you want a classic stirrup shape with damping and grip built in, and if you ride mainly dressage or hunter. It also works for your daily schooling in the arena and for hacking out. You do need at least shoe size EU 37. If you want a stirrup whose outer branch swings open under pressure, you are better served by Freejump's Soft'Up Pro or Soft'Up Classic; for a young rider or a foot up to size 39, the Soft'Up Lite is the obvious choice. If you jump a lot of courses and want an eye angled at 45 degrees, the Air Pure is not the model drawn for that.

Hang the stirrups on your stirrup leathers and check before every ride that the leather sits properly in the eye and that the studs are still tight. For maintenance Freejump prescribes this: clean the sole with the studs using a slightly damp stiff brush, wipe the other parts with a soft cloth and warm water, and let the stirrups air-dry. Use the stiff brush only on the sole. Replace worn studs with the key from the studs kit.

Is the Air Pure a stirrup with a flexible outer branch?

No. The bow is closed, as on a classic stirrup. For this model Freejump expressly lists single branch technology as absent. If you want an outer branch that swings open under pressure, look at the Soft'Up range.

From which shoe size does this stirrup fit?

Freejump gives EU 37 (US 6.5 women / 5 men) as the lower limit and states no upper limit.

Which disciplines is the Air Pure meant for?

Dressage and hunter first of all. Freejump states that the traditional shape can be used in every discipline.

Which stirrup leathers fit the Air Pure?

All types of stirrup leathers. The eye is extra wide, so leathers with a broader strap such as Freejump's Classic Wide and 4x6 sit neatly in it.

Can I replace the studs in the tread?

Yes. Freejump has a studs kit with eighteen steel studs and a key. Clean the worn studs first with water and a brush, then unscrew them and fit the new ones with the key.

How do I clean these stirrups?

Use a slightly damp stiff brush for the sole with the studs and wipe the other parts with a soft cloth and warm water. Then let the stirrups air-dry. Do not use the stiff brush on the other components.

What do these stirrups weigh?

Freejump publishes no weight for the Air Pure. Ask us about it if weight matters in your choice.

Can parts be repaired?

Freejump does not sell separate parts for home repair and refers you to its own repair service for replacements. The studs kit is the exception. According to the manufacturer, all parts can be replaced except the main branch and the sole.
