The flash strap sits in the chin groove and is fastened more loosely than the noseband itself. Tighten it further and you pull the noseband down, losing exactly the stability you were after.

New English leather can happily be treated with leather balm a few times before you start. After that it is enough to wipe away sweat and sand with a damp cloth after every ride, let the bridle dry at room temperature and clean the leather regularly with glycerine soap before feeding it with balm.

For riders who want a classic, understated bridle in good leather and plan to use it for years. It is not tied to one discipline: it suits dressage work, jumping training and daily riding.
