Size guide

A correct size is essential for both comfort and performance in equestrian sports. At Maddelin Equestrian, we are happy to help you choose the right size so that your equipment fits perfectly—whether it's riding apparel, helmets, boots, or accessories.
A well-fitting outfit not only ensures greater comfort but also better performance in the saddle. Clothing that is too tight or too loose can restrict your freedom of movement and affect your aids. Therefore, we recommend always measuring accurately and using our size charts as a guide.
Our size charts are organized by product category and brand, allowing you to choose as precisely as possible. Because fits can vary by brand, you will find specific information with each product to guide you.
How to measure correctly?
For the best results, always measure with a flexible tape measure, close to the body but without tightening.
-
Chest circumference: measure around the widest part of the chest
-
Waist: measure around the narrowest part of your waist
-
Hips: measure around the widest part of the hips
-
Inseam length: measure from groin to ankle
-
Head circumference (helmets): measure just above the eyebrows and ears
-
Calf circumference & height (boots/chaps): measure the widest part of the calf and the height from heel to hollow of the knee
If you are in doubt between two sizes? We usually advise choosing the larger size for extra comfort, unless otherwise stated with the product.
At Maddelin, we believe that the right fit makes all the difference between just riding and truly riding well. Use our size charts as a guide and confidently choose the size that suits you and your horse.
Andrea Hard Rubber Bit – Baby Pelham
Subtle leverage with a gentle impact
The Andrea Hard Rubber Bit – Baby Pelham combines the precision of a leverage bit with the comfort of a soft mouthpiece. Ideal for riders who seek that little bit extra control in challenging situations, yet want to maintain respect for their horse's mouth.
What makes this bit unique?
✅ TPU / hard rubber-like material
Made from high-quality thermoplastic polyurethane that approaches the softness of rubber, but with more resilience and durability. This makes the bit gentler than pure metal pelhams, without being too fragile.
✅ Baby Pelham action
Thanks to the shorter shanks, the leverage effect remains limited but more effective. This gives you extra nuance in your aids without having to switch to a full pelham.
✅ Small tongue relief
There is a subtle free space for the tongue, so that pressure on the tongue is softened. This makes the mouthpiece feel friendlier, without losing conscious contact on the cheek sides and bars.
✅ Stable position in the mouth
Due to its design, the bit rotates less, which feels calmer for your horse and allows for a more direct response.
Which horses is this bit suitable for?
This bit is perfect for:
-
Horses that respond to leverage but need softer contact points
-
Animals that have difficulty with bits where the bit can slide freely
-
Situations where you seek extra control, for example in case of tension or resistance
-
Riders familiar with the use of pelhams and who want subtle fine-tuning
