Between two sizes? We usually recommend the larger size, unless stated otherwise on the product. In our experience, Italian brands (such as Animo, Cavalleria Toscana and Vestrum) tend to come up small.

Rugs

How to measure your horse: using a soft tape measure, measure from the centre of the chest, over the point of the shoulder, horizontally along the body to the furthest point of the hindquarters. This is the total length.

Always check the brand's size chart. A rug size in cm (for example 125 or 145) is the back length for most brands, and how it converts to feet differs per brand. Some brands, such as Bucas, also measure differently. That's why every rug comes with the brand's own size information.

The table below converts the total length from feet to cm. This conversion is the same for every brand.

Product Information

The Effol SuperStar-Shine Mint is a 750 ml coat shine spray for coat, mane and tail. On this version Effol puts the detangling formula first: knots, shavings and straw come out more easily, and the coat stays simpler to groom for several days. The mint scent comes from mint oil, not from a fragrance blend.

About this coat shine spray

Effol describes a brilliant, long-lasting shine for this bottle, without an artificial finish, an effective detangling formula that releases knots, shavings and straw more easily, and coat care that stays noticeably simpler for several days. Mane and tail gain volume, swing and suppleness, and the conditioning recipe protects against dry, brittle hair.

The difference from the regular SuperStar-Shine lies in the scent and where it comes from. The INCI list of this variant contains no parfum: the scent comes from Mentha arvensis leaf oil, cornmint oil. The rest of the formula matches the base version: water, a non-ionic emulsion of highly viscous polymethylsiloxane, a silicone emulsion, polysorbate 20 and citric acid.

Effol positions this spray for daily care on the yard and for show days. You do not rinse it out: it stays in the coat and the long hair. The label carries the statement EUH208, which notes that the product may cause an allergic reaction; this bottle carries no hazard statement and no signal word.

Within the range at Maddelin, Mint is the fresh, minty option. The Effol SuperStar-Shine without added fragrance is the neutral base on the same silicone footing, the Effol SuperStar-Shine Lavender is the limited edition with lavender oil and alcohol in the formula, and the Effol SuperStar-Shine Orange & Ginger is the fruity, spiced version. All four come in 750 ml.

Effol gives no dosage or step-by-step method for this variant. Brush off first, then spray lightly onto a clean coat and onto mane and tail and comb through. Since the detangling formula is the focus here, it helps to split the tail into two or three sections and let them sit briefly after spraying before you comb.

Effol does not ask you to avoid particular areas. Keep the spray away from where the saddle and girth sit if you want to retain grip there, and do not spray towards the head.

No safety data sheet is available for this variant, so Effol states no pH, no density and no storage advice. Keep the bottle as you would the rest of the range: tightly closed, out of the sun and away from a heat source. The label carries EUH208: the product may cause an allergic reaction.

Choose this bottle if detangling is your first concern and you want a fresh mint scent: a mane and tail that need to stay easy to comb after a day in the wind or in straw. Effol intends the spray both for the daily session on the yard and for show days.

If you want no scent in the grooming box, the Effol SuperStar-Shine 750 ml is the neutral version of the same formula. For a fruity scent there is the Effol SuperStar-Shine Orange & Ginger 750 ml, the only one in the range Effol describes as suitable for all coat colours. If volume in mane and tail is your first concern, the Effol Mähnen-Schweif-Liquid 500 ml is more targeted. For the same scent family from another brand, the NAF Teatree & Mint Shampoo 500 ml is in the range; that is a shampoo, though, not a coat shine spray.

Effol gives no instructions for use for this variant. Spray lightly onto a clean, dry coat and onto mane and tail, leave briefly, then comb through; rinsing is not needed. Do not spray towards your horse's head and wash your hands after use.

Because no safety data sheet is available for this bottle, Effol gives no storage instruction. Keep the bottle closed, out of the sun and away from heat sources.
