Product Information

Stübben Danish Guard Double Broken

Maximum protection, stable position & soft communication – ideal for sensitive horses.

Are you looking for a bit that offers extra protection for the corners of the mouth, lies nicely still, and yet allows for refined, soft contact? Then the Stübben Danish Guard Double Broken is an excellent choice. Thanks to the unique Danish Guards and the double-jointed mouthpiece, this bit is designed for horses that need comfort and riders who like to ride with finesse.

The Stübben Danish Guard Double Broken is designed to keep the bit stable and quiet in the mouth, while simultaneously distributing pressure evenly.

The integrated Danish Guards (protective rings) prevent the corners of the mouth from getting pinched, which can make a world of difference, especially for sensitive horses or horses with a delicate mouth. Furthermore, they also aid in clearer lateral aids, making the bit very popular with young horses and horses still seeking stability.

The mouthpiece is double-jointed and made of Sweet Copper: an alloy that stimulates salivation, causing horses to often accept the bit faster and chew more relaxed.

Danish Guards (protective rings)

Protect the corners of the mouth and prevent pinching or cutting in

Extra stability in the mouth

Lies quieter than a loose ring bit – ideal for restless horses

Double broken mouthpiece

Soft, even pressure distribution without a nutcracker effect

Sweet Copper mouthpiece

Stimulates salivation → better bit acceptance & relaxation

Clear lateral support

Useful for turns, changes of direction, and training of young horses

If in doubt about the correct bit choice, consult a bit fitter or instructor.

Regularly check the corners of your horse's mouth and its behaviour to see if the bit fits.

Rinse the bit after each ride and check it for wear or sharp edges.

For whom?

For riders looking for a bit that suits their horse's mouth and needs.

When do you use this?

During training and, if permitted by regulations, in competition.

For which horses?

The right bit choice depends on your horse's mouth conformation and preference; if in doubt, ask for advice.

When is an alternative better?

If your horse does not respond well to this mouthpiece, consult a bit fitter about alternatives.

Attach the bit to the bridle and adjust the height so that it rests gently in the corners of the mouth, without creating wrinkles or hanging too low. Rinse the bit after each ride.
