Product Information

The Clip 'N Care Blade Care 7 in 1 Spray is a 500 ml maintenance spray for clipper blades, cutting blades and blade sets. It cools, cleans and lubricates the blades, cares for the metal and has an anti-rust action. You spray it straight onto the blade without dismantling anything, which makes it suitable for quick maintenance during and after clipping.

About this maintenance product

While you clip, hair and other residue collect between the moving cutting blades. At the same time, the movement and friction of the blades create heat. Those two together mean a clipper moves through the coat more slowly and the cutting edge deteriorates faster. This spray tackles both: it cools, cleans and lubricates the blades and cares for the metal.

The advantage of this spray version is how simple it is. You do not have to take the blades off the clipper, nor submerge them in a fluid. First let the blades or the blade set cool down completely, then spray a small amount straight onto the blade and let the machine run for about five seconds. Surplus hair and other build-up are rinsed away.

After the treatment you switch the machine off and remove the excess fluid with a brush or a cloth. Cleaning and care fit into one short maintenance stop that way, which is particularly handy when you clip several horses one after another.

The formula also has an anti-rust action, which means Blade Care can be used as a preservative for clipper blades and blade sets. Regular and correct maintenance helps keep the blades in good condition for longer. The spray is suitable for all cutting blades, so also if you work with different machines or blade sets.

Always let the blades cool down before you spray, and use a small amount: more product mainly means more excess to wipe away afterwards. Then let the machine run for about five seconds, switch it off and take away the excess with a brush or cloth before you clip on. With a nervous horse it is better to spray a little to one side, because the noise of a spray can is noticeable.

Use the spray as you go when the blades start to drag, and once more before you put the blades away. For lubrication during the clipping itself, a clipper oil such as the Lister Shearing R15 from our range remains the right choice; spray and oil complement each other. If the blades still go heavily through the coat after cleaning, they are probably blunt and sharpening is the next step.

Choose this spray when you want to maintain your blades quickly and without fuss while you are working: no bowl, no dismantling, just spray and let it run for five seconds. That works well for riders, grooms and clippers who do several horses one after another, and for anyone working with different machines and blade sets.

If you would rather work with a dipping bath, for example to rinse a whole set of blades through in one go or because you do not want a mist in a closed stable, the Clip 'N Care Blade Care 7 in 1 Dip from our range suits better. If it is mainly about cooling during long clips, the Blade Cool Care 4 in 1 Spray comes closest.

First let the blades cool down completely. Spray a small amount straight onto the blade and let the clipper run for about five seconds. Switch off and remove the excess with a brush or cloth before you carry on. With a spooky horse, it is better to spray off to one side.

Use the spray in between when the blades start to drag, and once more before you put them away; it also acts as a preservative. For lubrication while clipping, you still need a blade oil.

Will this work with my clipper?
The Blade Care 7 in 1 Spray is suitable for all cutting blades, so for screw-on blades, snap-on blade sets and trimmer blades. If you are not sure how best to maintain your model, get in touch with us.

Do I have to unscrew the blades?
No. You spray straight onto the mounted blade and then let the machine run briefly.

How long do I let the machine run after spraying?
About five seconds. Then you switch off and remove the excess with a brush or cloth.

Does the blade have to cool down first?
Yes. Let the blades or the blade set cool down completely before you apply the spray.

What is the difference from the Dip version?
The same purpose, a different way of applying it. You apply the spray straight onto the blades; with the dip you run the cutting part briefly in the fluid.

Do I still need clipper oil as well?
The spray lubricates too, but for lubrication during the clipping itself a clipper oil remains the right product. In practice you use them alongside each other.

Can I use the spray when storing my blades?
Yes. Thanks to the anti-rust action, Blade Care is also intended as a preservative for clipper blades and blade sets.

How much spray do I use each time?
A small amount straight onto the blade is enough. You wipe the excess away afterwards.
