Product Information

The Clip 'N Care Blade Care 7 in 1 Dip is a 500 ml maintenance fluid for clipper blades, cutting blades and blade sets. You run the cutting part of the blade briefly in the fluid: it cleans, lubricates, cools and cares for the metal, and it has an anti-rust action. Handy if you want to carry on quickly between two horses.

About this maintenance product

While you clip a horse, hair and other dirt work their way in between the moving parts of your blades. That affects how the blades run: they start up more slowly, pull more and heat up faster. With this dipping fluid you remove that build-up without first having to unscrew the blades from your clipper.

It is simple to use. First let the blades or the blade set cool down completely. Then pour a small amount of Blade Care into the supplied lid or into a suitable bowl. The blade or blade set stays mounted on the clipper; you dip only the cutting blades into the fluid and let the machine run for five to ten seconds. Surplus hair and other build-up are rinsed away. Then you switch the machine off and remove the excess fluid with a brush or a cloth.

Besides cleaning, the fluid lubricates and cares for the metal. According to Clip 'N Care, that helps keep clipper blades and blade sets in good condition and sharp for longer. Thanks to the anti-rust formula, the Blade Care Dip can also be used as a preservative when you put your blades away after the clipping season.

The fluid is suitable for all cutting blades. If you work with several clippers or blade sets, you can therefore maintain them all with the same product. Clip 'N Care also offers Blade Care as a spray: the dip is mainly practical when you want to run the cutting blades directly in the fluid, the spray when you would rather apply the product straight onto the blades.

Only ever dip the cutting part, never the clipper or the motor head. Let the blade cool down first before you hold it in the fluid, and wipe off the excess afterwards with a brush or cloth so that no fluid ends up in the coat. Pour a small amount into the lid each time rather than working straight from the bottle.

For a complete maintenance routine, combine the dip with a clipper oil from our range, for example the Lister Shearing R15: the dip takes away hair and dirt and cools, while the oil lubricates the cutting surfaces during the clipping itself. If you notice that the blade still pulls or keeps snagging after cleaning, it is usually blunt, and sharpening makes more sense than cleaning it again.

Choose the Dip when you would rather work with a fluid in a container than with an aerosol, for instance in a closed stable where you do not want a mist, or when you want to rinse several blades through thoroughly one after another. Anyone putting a whole set of blades away after the season also works faster with a dipping bath.

If you would rather spray quickly onto and through the blades while you are working, the Clip 'N Care Blade Care 7 in 1 Spray from our range is the logical choice. If it is mainly about cooling during a long clip, the Blade Cool Care 4 in 1 Spray comes closest. For lubrication during clipping, a clipper oil is still needed.

First let the blades cool down completely. Pour a small amount into the supplied lid or a bowl, dip only the cutting blades and let the clipper run for five to ten seconds. Switch off and wipe away the excess with a brush or cloth, so nothing ends up in the coat.

For lubrication while clipping, you still need a blade oil. After the season you also use the dip as a preservative for blades you put away.

Will this work with my clipper?
The Blade Care Dip is suitable for all cutting blades, so for screw-on blades, snap-on blade sets and trimmer blades. You dip only the cutting part; the machine itself does not go into the fluid. If you are not sure how that works on your model, get in touch with us.

Do I have to unscrew the blades before cleaning them?
No. The blade or blade set stays mounted; you only hold the cutting blades in the fluid while the machine runs.

How long do I let the machine run?
Five to ten seconds is enough to rinse hair and build-up out from between the blades.

Does the blade have to cool down first?
Yes. Let the blades or the blade set cool down completely before you dip them into the fluid.

Do I still need clipper oil as well?
The dip lubricates too, but for lubrication during the clipping itself a clipper oil remains the right product. Many people use the two alongside each other.

What is the difference from the Blade Care Spray?
The formula serves the same purpose; the difference is in how you apply it. With the dip you run the cutting part in the fluid, with the spray you apply the product straight onto the blades.

Can I use the fluid to store my blades?
Yes. Thanks to the anti-rust action, the Blade Care Dip is also intended as a preservative for blades and blade sets that you put away after use.

How much fluid do I use each time?
A small amount in the supplied lid or in a bowl is enough. That keeps the rest of the bottle clean.
