Cavalor Nutri Fiber

The Cavalor Nutri Fiber is a vitamin and mineral balancer with added fibre, for horses that get little or no concentrate alongside their forage. At 0.46 EWpa/kg and 2.2% starch it adds little energy, but it does add concentrated vitamins, minerals and trace elements. That makes Nutri Fiber a fit for horses in light work or horses that take enough energy from their forage. In other words: you top up a forage-based ration without feeding a traditional concentrate.

About this balancer

The balancer contains 23% crude fibre and uses several fibre sources: oat hulls, alfalfa, timothy grass and flax chaff. That high fibre content gives the mix plenty of structure and volume in the bucket. You can see and feel the difference compared with a concentrated pelleted balancer.

What sets Nutri Fiber apart is the way the vitamins and trace elements are built in. Cavalor uses hydroxy-bound copper and zinc and chelated manganese, among others. Vitamins and trace elements also sit in separate pellets: the green pellets hold the vitamins and minerals, the beige pellets the trace elements. Both are mixed homogeneously, so every scoop has the same ratio.

Palatability was considered too: the mix contains carrot flakes, dried apple, carob and pea flakes among other things. That makes Nutri Fiber worth trying with fussy eaters. The formula supplies 0.46 EWpa/kg and contains 10% crude protein, 3.5% crude fat, 4.6% sugar and 2.2% starch.

On a forage-only ration Cavalor advises 100 to 200 g per 100 kg body weight per day, depending on the work. If your horse does get a limited amount of concentrate, the dose can be halved. Enough good-quality forage and fresh drinking water remain the foundation.
