Description
The Cavalor Probreed Mix is a muesli for pregnant and lactating mares and for foals under one year old. It is a concentrate with 16% crude protein and a mineral balance that Cavalor matches to that stage of life. Feed it alongside plenty of good-quality forage, divided over several meals. For breeders who want to feed mare and foal from the same bag, that is a practical arrangement.
About this muesli
The muesli contains puffed barley and puffed maize, among other ingredients. Puffing is a heat treatment that opens up the starch in the grain. Probreed Mix also contains probiotics, including the yeast culture Saccharomyces cerevisiae CNCM I-4407.
With mares and young horses, the minerals are what you look at first. Probreed Mix provides 1.1% calcium, 0.6% phosphorus and 0.35% magnesium, topped up with copper, zinc, manganese and selenium among others. Part of the copper and manganese is in organically bound form.
The analytical composition contains 16% crude protein, 5% crude fat, 10% crude fibre, 5% sugar and 21% starch, with an energy value of 0.84 EWpa/kg. Probreed Mix therefore brings energy, protein and minerals together in one concentrate, for mares during pregnancy and lactation and for foals up to one year.
Amounts differ per stage. During pregnancy Cavalor advises 250 to 500 g per 100 kg body weight per day; during lactation 375 to 625 g per 100 kg. For foals the guideline is 250 to 450 g per 100 kg of expected adult body weight. Divide the concentrate over several meals and feed it after forage where possible. Enough good forage and fresh drinking water remain the basis of the ration.
Composition: wheat feed meal, alfalfa pellets, oats, wheat bran grits, puffed barley, puffed maize, soya bean meal (produced from genetically modified soya), linseed, barley flakes, beet molasses, rapeseed meal, spelt hulls, toasted soya beans, broken oilseeds, sunflower seed meal, soya bean hulls (produced from genetically modified soya), wheat, calcium carbonate, sodium chloride, soya oil, vinasse, barley, hydrated magnesium silicate, maize gluten and maize steep water.
