About this competition shirt
The Carolace is a long sleeve competition shirt from Samshield's SS25 collection. Because the brand no longer carries this model in its current range, no further specifications can be obtained from the manufacturer. What is established: the black finish, the long sleeve and the sizes in which Maddelin carries it.
A black shirt calls for a considered choice. For showjumping, FEI Jumping Rules article 207.2.3 prescribes a white collar, white cuffs with long sleeves, and a white tie, stock or choker; for children and pony riders the whole shirt must be white. In Belgian dressage, a white shirt is prescribed. A black shirt is therefore mainly meant for warming up, for schooling and for classes in which the colour of the shirt body is free. Exactly which classes those are differs by federation, by discipline, by level and by country, and regulations change regularly.
Where black does bring an advantage: the shirt still looks tidier than a white one after a day in the yard, and horse hairs and dust marks show up less. The long sleeve gives cover on cooler days and a neat cuff line under a jacket. If you wear this shirt on a day when the ground jury allows riding without a jacket in very warm weather, a long sleeve meets the requirement that the shirt must have sleeves.
The limitations are real. There is only one colour and there are three sizes, so the range is narrow. The manufacturer states no fibre composition, no fabric weight and no washing instructions; for care, the care label in the shirt is the source. Anyone looking for a shirt with documented fabric properties is better off with a model from the current collection.
