We stock this bridle in size Full. If you are unsure between sizes, measure the nose circumference about two fingers below the cheekbone and compare the cheekpiece length with a bridle that fits well right now.

Adjust the noseband first and the flash strap afterwards. Leave the noseband so that two fingers fit flat underneath it; tension the flash strap looser than the noseband and place it neatly under the bit, never on top of it. A flash strap pulled too tight lifts the bit up into the corners of the mouth and works against what you are trying to achieve.

Clean the leather with leather soap and follow with a leather balm. Pay particular attention to the inside of the noseband and headpiece: that is where sweat and dirt build up fastest.

The Calgary is a good choice when you want a bridle with a clear, sporty look and the extra stability of a flash strap. Think of jumping, eventing and all-round schooling work, and of horses that lie firmly in the hand.

If you would rather have a finer, more understated line for dressage, a bridle with a narrower, anatomically shaped noseband from our range makes more sense. If your horse has little room between bit and noseband, or you prefer to ride without an extra strap in the mouth area, a model with a single noseband is the better pick. And if you ride bitless, a flash strap serves no purpose at all and you end up with a hackamore bridle.
