Product Information
The Kentucky Sheepskin Special is a stud girth for jumping with an eye-catching PVC finish in what Kentucky calls a 'basketball' design. Under the belly sits a wide protective plate, and against the skin a removable artificial sheepskin cover. It is meant for show jumpers who want the function of a fleece stud girth in a version you do not see everywhere.
About this stud girth
Kentucky calls this model a stud girth (Sheepskin Stud Girth Special). It is a long girth with a wide protective plate in the centre that sits under the belly. Kentucky designed it for comfort and safety when jumping, and to limit the risk of shoes or studs catching your horse.
What sets the Special apart is the outside. Where the standard Kentucky Sheepskin stud girth has a classic synthetic leather finish, this version gets a PVC finish in a 'basketball' design. That also makes it slightly heavier: 1.4 kg against 1 kg for the standard version.
Otherwise the build is the same. An artificial sheepskin cover, so not real wool, is attached with hook-and-loop and comes off for washing. Underneath are synthetic leather and a protective EVA inner layer. The girth is anatomically shaped, giving more room to the shoulders and elbows, and has elastic at both ends.
For schooling equipment there are 3 D-rings for draw reins and a buckle to attach a breastplate directly to the girth. Kentucky makes the Special in brown only.
