Kentucky Sheepskin Stud Girth

Take the cover off after a hard session and let it dry completely before you put it back on. Fleece that stays on the girth wet and full of sweat mats together and turns stiff. Brush the fleece once dry to keep it fluffy.

Position the protective plate centrally under the belly and make sure the fleece lies flat, without creases under the plate. If you use a breastplate, attach it to the buckle on the girth rather than looping it between the girth straps.

Choose the Kentucky Sheepskin stud girth if you jump with studs or with a horse that tucks its front legs up high, and you want a soft cover you can wash separately. At Maddelin it comes in black and brown.

If you do not need a cover, the Kentucky Buiklapsingel is simpler to look after. For an anatomical stud girth with a flat central hook and fleece, look at the Kentucky Anatomische Buiklapsingel Wol. For a long fleece girth without a stud guard, for flatwork for example, there is the Kentucky Anatomische Singel Wol. Prefer real leather? Check that the cover is firmly attached with the hook-and-loop, position the protective plate centrally under the belly and fasten the girth at the same height on both sides to the girth straps. After use, take the cover off and wash it at 30 °C, without tumble drying. Clean the synthetic leather with Tack Cleaner.

Is this a jumping girth or a stud girth?
A stud girth. Kentucky calls the model Sheepskin Stud Girth: a long jumping girth with a wide protective plate under the belly.

Is the fleece real sheepskin?
No. It is artificial sheepskin, a synthetic fleece. The strap itself is synthetic leather too.

Can I wash the cover?
Yes. The cover is attached with hook-and-loop and comes off. Kentucky lists washing at 30 °C and no tumble drying.

Does this cover also fit the Kentucky Anatomische Buiklapsingel Wol?
No. Kentucky states explicitly that the cover of this model does not fit the anatomical fleece stud girth.

Can I attach a breastplate?
Yes. There is a buckle to attach a breastplate to the girth, plus 3 D-rings for draw reins.

Is there a separate replacement cover?
Yes. Kentucky makes a separate sheepskin cover for this model. Maddelin can order it for you; just ask in the shop.

Which size should I take?
Kentucky does not state how the size of this model is measured. Measure your current girth from buckle to buckle and choose the same size, or ask us for advice in the shop.
