• The Bucas Irish Turnout 100 is a waterproof, breathable turnout rug with a 100 g fill, the middle weight between light and winter.
• The outer fabric of the Irish Turnout 100 is tear-resistant 1200 denier Ripstop.
• The Dermo-care lining is silky smooth, wicks moisture and keeps the coat flat.
• The T-bar with magnetic Snap-lock holds the rug in place without hook and loop.
• Shoulder darts, cross surcingles, tail flap and Deluxe fillet string give a stable fit in the Classic Cut.
• A neck cover and Bucas Liners, Quilts & Coolers can be attached to the rug.
• Maddelin offers the Irish Turnout 100 in Black/Gold, in sizes 145/195/6.6 and 155/205/6.9; other sizes on request.

• 100 g fill: the step between a lightweight and a winter rug.
• 1200 denier Ripstop outer built for life in the field.
• Waterproof and breathable, so your horse stays dry outside and underneath.
• Silky Dermo-care lining that wicks moisture away.
• Magnetic Snap-lock: no hook and loop clogging up with hair and straw.
• Shoulder darts for a better fit around the shoulder.
• Ready for a neck cover and for Bucas Liners, Quilts & Coolers.

Choose the Irish Turnout 100 if your horse lives out in autumn and on milder winter days and you want one rug that handles most of that period. It is also a logical choice if you already layer and need a solid outer.

If 100 g is too warm for your horse, there is the Bucas Irish Turnout 50. For real winter cold or a clipped horse, look at the Irish Turnout 300 or the Bucas Smartex Extra with 300 g, ballistic nylon and reflective strips. If recycled materials matter to you, the Bucas Greenline Turnout 100 has the same fill in a recycled 600 denier Ripstop. If the neck needs covering, there is the Bucas Freedom Turnout + Neck 100.

Measure your horse the Bucas way: from the centre of the chest, over the highest point of the shoulder, to the back of the hind leg. Choose the nearest size. A rug that is too big slips sideways, presses on the withers and can cause rubs.

The Irish Turnout 100 has a Classic Cut with shoulder darts for more room at the shoulder. Maddelin stocks 145/195/6.6 and 155/205/6.9; other sizes can be ordered on request.

Start with the size. Bucas measures from the centre of the chest, over the highest point of the shoulder, to the back of the hind leg. Take the size nearest to your measurement. A rug that is too big slips to one side, presses on the withers and can cause rubs.

For timing, check the Rug Selector label Bucas attaches to the rug: it shows the recommended temperature range. A clipped horse, a sensitive breed, strong wind or high humidity all shift that range. With a Bucas Liner or Quilt underneath you can take the 100 g further into winter.

No rug is a seamless raincoat. Bucas itself says water can get in along edges and seams, and that in heavy rain water may run down the neck under the rug. Keep the rug clean too: droppings, urine and grease from the skin attack the coating. Wash at 30 degrees maximum with Bucas Rug Wash and restore the water-repellent finish with Bucas Rug Conditioner.

Put the rug on and fasten the T-bar with magnetic Snap-lock at the chest first. Then do up the cross surcingles. If you use leg straps, fix them to the attachment points provided. The Deluxe fillet string runs under the tail. Check that the rug sits straight and the shoulders stay free.

Wash at 30 degrees maximum with Bucas Rug Wash, without fabric softener, and do not tumble dry. Afterwards apply Bucas Rug Conditioner to the clean outer side.

When should I use a 100 g rug?
When a lightweight is no longer enough but a winter rug is still too warm. Bucas gives the recommended temperature range on the Rug Selector label attached to the rug. Breed, clipping, humidity and wind also determine what your horse needs.

What is the difference between the Irish Turnout 100 and the Irish Turnout 300?
The fill: 100 g versus 300 g. Everything else, from the 1200 denier Ripstop to the Snap-lock closure, is the same. The 300 g is the winter version.

Which size does my horse need?
Measure from the centre of the chest, over the highest point of the shoulder, to the back of the hind leg, and choose the nearest size. Bucas size 145 corresponds to 145/195/6.6, size 155 to 155/205/6.9.

Do you have other sizes?
We stock 145/195/6.6 and 155/205/6.9. Other sizes can be ordered on request.

Will a neck cover or liner fit this rug?
Yes, both. There are attachment points for the Irish Turnout Neck and connection points for Bucas Liners, Quilts & Coolers. We do not keep the separate neck as standard; we order it on request.

Can this rug go in the washing machine?
Yes, at 30 degrees maximum on a gentle cycle, or by hand. Use only Bucas Rug Wash, as household detergent can damage the waterproof coating. No fabric softener, no spinning, no tumble drying, no dry cleaning. Dry flat or hanging, then apply Bucas Rug Conditioner to the clean outer side.

Is the rug suitable for a broad-chested horse?
The shoulder darts already give extra room. If that is not enough, there is a Bucas Chest Extender for the magnetic T-bar (model 802, for rugs from 2017 onwards), available on request.
