A grackle noseband is fitted differently from an ordinary noseband. The crossing point belongs in the middle of the nasal bone, well below the cheekbone, and not low down near the nostrils. The upper strap runs high across the nose, comfortably below the cheekbone; the lower strap passes under the bit. Fasten both straps without pulling them tight, so they stay lying flat.

During the first few rides, check that the fleece at the crossing point stays properly centred. If the cross shifts to the left or right, the two straps are not adjusted equally.

For care: wipe the leather and fleece after every ride. The fleece collects sweat and sand, so brush or rinse it out now and then and let it dry completely before riding again. Clean the leather weekly with saddle soap and feed it afterwards with leather balm. Store the bridle on a wide bracket.

This Paris is meant for the rider who jumps, rides cross-country or competes in eventing and deliberately chooses a grackle noseband. If you mainly ride dressage, a bridle with a classic or combined noseband from our range fits the usual picture in the dressage arena better.

Equally, if your horse actually benefits from a wide, padded noseband across the nasal bone, a model with a combined noseband makes more sense than this crossed design. And if you are after a complete set, bear in mind that the reins come separately here.
