The right size is essential for comfort, safety and performance in equestrian sport. At Maddelin Equestrian we're happy to help you choose the right size, so your equipment fits well: riding wear, helmets, boots or equipment for your horse.

Clothing that is too tight or too loose can restrict your freedom of movement and affect your aids. Always measure carefully and use our size charts as a guide.

Fit varies from brand to brand, so you'll find specific information on each product page. Not sure? Send us a message or come and try in our shop in Torhout.

Rugs

How to measure your horse: using a soft tape measure, measure from the centre of the chest, over the point of the shoulder, horizontally along the body to the furthest point of the hindquarters. This is the total length.

Always check the brand's size chart. A rug size in cm (for example 125 or 145) is the back length for most brands, and how it converts to feet differs per brand. Some brands, such as Bucas, also measure differently. That's why every rug comes with the brand's own size information.

The table below converts the total length from feet to cm. This conversion is the same for every brand.

Feet	Inches	Total length (cm)

Product Information

The BR single-jointed loose ring snaffle Soft Contact 12 mm is an excellent choice for riders looking for a gentle, yet effective bit for daily training or testing bit acceptance. Thanks to its thin mouthpiece, this bit is particularly suitable for horses with smaller mouths or horses that react sensitively to thicker bits.

The Soft Contact material stimulates saliva production and promotes a soft, relaxed acceptance of the bit. This creates a more stable and honest contact between the rider's hand and the horse's mouth. The single-jointed design ensures direct action, which is suitable for riders who want to convey their aids clearly without harsh action.

The loose rings (snaffle) provide extra mobility in the bit, which helps horses to find more relaxation in the jaw and accept the bit better. This makes the bit particularly suitable as a test bit: suitable for discovering what your horse needs for optimal communication and comfort.

Whether you are working on basic acceptance, suppleness, or refinement in contact — this BR bit supports fair and harmonious training.

If in doubt about the correct bit choice, consult a bit fitter or instructor.

Regularly check the corners of your horse's mouth and its behaviour to see if the bit fits.

Rinse the bit after each ride and check it for wear or sharp edges.

For whom?

For riders looking for a bit that suits their horse's mouth and needs.

When do you use this?

During training and, if permitted by regulations, in competition.

For which horses?

The right bit choice depends on your horse's mouth conformation and preference; if in doubt, ask for advice.

When is an alternative better?

If your horse does not respond well to this mouthpiece, consult a bit fitter about alternatives.

Attach the bit to the bridle and adjust the height so that it rests gently in the corners of the mouth, without creating wrinkles or hanging too low. Rinse the bit after each ride.

Which size should I choose?

Measure your horse's mouth width and consult the size chart.

Is this bit competition legal?

Check the rules of your discipline and federation for certainty.

How do I maintain the bit?

Rinse with water after each ride and regularly check for wear and tear.

How do I know if this bit fits?

Look for relaxed chewing and a quiet contact; if in doubt, ask a bit fitter for advice.

Single jointed loose ring snaffle.
This is the test bit version of this model. The loose rings provide a mobile, forgiving action that encourages chewing. Single jointed: a simple, direct action that many horses are familiar with. The Soft Contact mouthpiece has a soft, flexible coating that is kind to sensitive mouths.
For fine, honest communication.
Size according to mouth width (see size chart).
