Between two sizes? We usually recommend the larger size, unless stated otherwise on the product. In our experience, Italian brands (such as Animo, Cavalleria Toscana and Vestrum) tend to come up small.

Rugs

How to measure your horse: using a soft tape measure, measure from the centre of the chest, over the point of the shoulder, horizontally along the body to the furthest point of the hindquarters. This is the total length.

Always check the brand's size chart. A rug size in cm (for example 125 or 145) is the back length for most brands, and how it converts to feet differs per brand. Some brands, such as Bucas, also measure differently. That's why every rug comes with the brand's own size information.

The table below converts the total length from feet to cm. This conversion is the same for every brand.

Product Information

The BR Seaford bridle is a training bridle in Italian leather with clips at the cheekpieces and the reins, so you can change bits quickly. It has an anatomically shaped headpiece and a padded combined noseband, and comes with rubber grip reins. It is intended for riders who ride several horses or who change bits often.

About this bridle

The Seaford has clearly been built with daily practice in mind. If you ride several horses in a row, change bits regularly, or work specifically on the contact with different bits, you know the fiddle with small buckles and keepers. Here, clips at the cheekpieces and at the reins solve that: you unhook and rehook the bit without taking the bridle apart.

That convenience sits in a bridle that is otherwise simply well made. The leather is supple Italian leather that feels soft straight away and follows the horse's head neatly, without a long breaking-in period.

The headpiece is anatomically shaped, softly padded and easy to adjust. Thanks to that shape and padding, the pressure is spread around the ears instead of concentrated on a narrow band, which matters most during long lessons, clinics or training days when the bridle stays on for hours.

The noseband is a combined noseband, so with a flash strap under the bit, and it is comfortably padded. That combination gives a calm, stable fit: the noseband itself stays in place and the flash keeps the bit quieter in the mouth. Handy when you work with different bits and want to keep the contact comparable.

On the outside, the subtle stitching details and the raised, square-finished straps give a classic, well-kept look: it remains a training bridle, but it does not look like plain working kit. The rubber grip reins supplied sit firmly in the hand and stay manageable in sweat or rain. That way you have a complete set right away.

Choose your size based on the noseband circumference and the cheekpiece length: Cob for medium-sized horses, Full for the average warmblood. If you share the bridle between several horses, take the size of the largest head and work downwards with the adjustment holes.

Set the noseband about two fingers below the cheekbone, with two fingers of room across the nose. The flash strap hangs looser than the noseband: it stabilises the bit, it does not tighten. At every bit change, check that the clips are fully closed and that the bit hangs at the same height on both sides.

Wipe the leather dry after use and pay extra attention to the clips: rinse sand and sweat away and dry them, so the mechanism keeps working smoothly. Clean the bridle every few weeks with leather soap and feed it afterwards. The rubber grip reins are cleaned with water and left to air dry.

The Seaford is meant for anyone who wants to work efficiently: riders of several horses, riders who change bits often and everyone looking for speed and convenience at the yard without giving up comfort. It is also a practical choice for lessons and clinics, because you can try out several set-ups with one bridle.

If you are looking for an arena bridle with a distinctly festive browband, a model with crystals from our range is the better option. If you prefer to ride without a flash strap, a model with a cavesson noseband makes more sense. And if you already have a set of reins you are attached to, keep in mind that the rein clips on this bridle belong with the reins supplied.
