Between two sizes? We usually recommend the larger size, unless stated otherwise on the product. In our experience, Italian brands (such as Animo, Cavalleria Toscana and Vestrum) tend to come up small.
Rugs
How to measure your horse: using a soft tape measure, measure from the centre of the chest, over the point of the shoulder, horizontally along the body to the furthest point of the hindquarters. This is the total length.
Always check the brand's size chart. A rug size in cm (for example 125 or 145) is the back length for most brands, and how it converts to feet differs per brand. Some brands, such as Bucas, also measure differently. That's why every rug comes with the brand's own size information.
The table below converts the total length from feet to cm. This conversion is the same for every brand.

Product Information
The Boss Equestrian Viola Knitted Puffer Vest is a quilted bodywarmer with a feminine cut. Boss describes the model as a modern quilted bodywarmer that combines warmth with arms and shoulders left free, suitable for riding, training and everyday use. That is exactly where a bodywarmer earns its keep in winter: warmth around your torso without your arms being wrapped up.
About this bodywarmer
The outer fabric is a 350T pongee in 100% polyester, 110 g/m², with a waterproof finish. Boss backs that up with figures: a water column of 10,000 mm and vapour permeability of 10,000 g/m² per 24 hours, both measured to the JIS standard. On those numbers the fabric keeps ordinary rain out while letting moisture escape from the inside, so you are not left clammy when you warm up.
The advantage of a sleeveless model shows up straight away in the saddle: your torso stays warm while arms and shoulders stay completely free. No fabric pulling when you carry your hands forward, no bulk under the arms. Boss deliberately keeps the padding light, so the bodywarmer builds little volume and still fits under a roomier jacket.
The sporty stand-up collar with a ribbed knitted inner collar closes neatly around the neck and keeps the wind off; that knitted detail is where the model gets its name. Two zip pockets on the front hold your phone and small items safely, even when you bend down to pick out a hoof.
The finish stays quiet: a faux leather logo patch on the chest, and beyond that Boss lets the quilted lines do the work. What Boss does not state is the filling material. The filling is called light, but the specifications say nothing about its composition or an insulation value. We therefore attach no warmth rating to it.
The Viola suits riders who spend much of their winter outdoors and want warmth without giving up arm freedom. If you want your arms protected from wind and rain as well, a padded jacket with sleeves is the more logical choice. And if you only need a thin mid-layer under a winter coat, a fleece or a knitted gilet will do.
