Between two sizes? We usually recommend the larger size, unless stated otherwise on the product. In our experience, Italian brands (such as Animo, Cavalleria Toscana and Vestrum) tend to come up small.

Rugs

How to measure your horse: using a soft tape measure, measure from the centre of the chest, over the point of the shoulder, horizontally along the body to the furthest point of the hindquarters. This is the total length.

Always check the brand's size chart. A rug size in cm (for example 125 or 145) is the back length for most brands, and how it converts to feet differs per brand. Some brands, such as Bucas, also measure differently. That's why every rug comes with the brand's own size information.

The table below converts the total length from feet to cm. This conversion is the same for every brand.

The Minou Show Shirt Double B from Boss Equestrian is a white long-sleeve competition shirt for women, with a stand-up collar and a short zip with a double B puller. The fabric is close-lying and stretchy, so the shirt stays neat under your show jacket and does not ride up. Available in sizes XS, S and M.

About this competition shirt

The shirt shares its base with the training version of the Minou line. The supplier specifications provided state 73% polyamide and 27% elastane. That ratio makes the shirt stay flat on the body and keeps it from creasing or riding up when you move your arms in the test.

On a competition shirt it is mainly the top edge that counts. The stand-up collar closes around the neck and stays visible above the fastening of your jacket; with the short zip at the front you decide for yourself how high that white comes up. The fastening carries a double B puller. On the chest sits one subtle BOSS logo detail in handwriting; for the rest the shirt stays entirely white and unadorned, which keeps it quiet in the ring.

Boss Equestrian uses the same product description for this white version as for the training variant and gives no separate competition-specific treatment. On stain resistance or crease recovery the brand therefore states nothing, and the specifications also say nothing about the weight of the fabric, the cut or whether mesh panels are present.

This shirt is meant for the days when you are being judged. Competition dress rules differ by federation, by discipline, by level and by country, and they are revised regularly; consult the current provisions of your federation before you enter. What is established today in the international rules: in showjumping the FEI prescribes a white collar, white cuffs with long sleeves and a white tie, stock or choker, and for children and pony riders a fully white shirt. In dressage the FEI rules only lay down that the stock or tie must be white or off-white; they say nothing about the shirt itself. The Belgian rules are stricter there and do require a white shirt.

If someone rides without a jacket in very warm weather, which the ground jury may allow, the shirt must then have sleeves in showjumping. With long sleeves you are within the rule on that point; the white cuffs asked for in that case come naturally with this plain white model.

White competition kit lives a short and intensive life. Take the shirt out of your bag only on competition day and pull your jacket over it as late as you can; that keeps sand and stable dirt off the sleeves. Because the model is close-lying, it builds up no extra volume at the shoulders under a show jacket. For care the same instruction applies as for the rest of the Minou line: wash at 30 degrees on the delicate programme, do not bleach, do not iron, do not dry clean and do not tumble dry. On a white shirt that bleach ban is the most important limitation; so treat stains in good time and at a low temperature, and not with chlorine-based products. Let the shirt dry in the air, which keeps the elastane springy.

Choose this shirt as a rider who competes and wants a plain white model to wear under her show jacket, with a stand-up collar and a zip instead of buttons. It is usable in dressage, showjumping and eventing; which kit exactly is permitted is set by the rules of your own federation. If you mainly ride at home or want the same cut in a colour that does not show dirt as quickly, the Minou Training Shirt is the pick. If you want something with a bit more character at a competition, the Boss Equestrian Elaria Show Blouse with its checked Smoking panel is the closer match. If your test asks for a stock tie or a tie, you need a different type of competition shirt.

Pull the shirt on over the head and close the zip to just under the collar, so the stand-up band stays standing around the neck. Wear it under your show jacket or, where the rules allow that, on its own. After the competition, wash it at 30 degrees on the delicate programme without bleach, do not iron it and let it dry in the air. Dry cleaning and the tumble dryer are ruled out. Alongside that, always follow the care label in the garment itself.

Does this shirt meet the rules at a competition?

That depends on your federation, your discipline and the level at which you start. Competition dress rules are revised regularly; consult the current provisions of your own federation before you enter. In showjumping the FEI prescribes a white collar, white cuffs with long sleeves and a white tie, stock or choker; in Belgian dressage a white shirt applies.

What is the difference from the Minou Training Shirt?

The build is the same, but this version exists only in white and is meant for under the show jacket. The training shirt runs in more colours and in more sizes.

What material is the shirt made of?

The supplier specifications provided state 73% polyamide and 27% elastane. There is no brand page for this FW26 article today.

May I treat stains with bleach?

No. Boss Equestrian rules out bleaching in the washing instructions, as well as ironing, dry cleaning and the tumble dryer. Better to treat stains quickly and at a low temperature.

Can I wear this shirt without a jacket as well?

You can; it is a shirt in its own right, with a stand-up collar and a short zip. Whether it is permitted without a jacket at a competition is decided by the ground jury in very warm weather, and in showjumping the shirt must then have sleeves. Long sleeves meet that condition.

Which size should I choose?

This model exists in XS, S and M and is cut close to the body. Boss Equestrian supplies no size guide for this shirt. The fabric contains 27% elastane and therefore has plenty of stretch; if in doubt, measure your chest measurement.

Is the shirt stain-resistant or crease-resistant?

Boss Equestrian states nothing about that for this model.
