Product Information
The Boss Equestrian Jordan Cable Knit Turtleneck Sweater is a knitted sweater with a classic cable pattern and a warm turtleneck. Boss Equestrian positions this model as a timeless basic for cold days, not as technical riding wear. You put it on when you step into the stable in the morning, and it stays looking good when you drop by somewhere afterwards.
The fabric consists of 55% acrylic and 45% cotton. This ratio makes a difference you can feel: the cotton gives the inside a soft, skin-friendly feel and ensures the sweater doesn't immediately feel stuffy, while the acrylic keeps the weight down and helps the cable maintain its structure. A pure wool sweater insulates more strongly, but also weighs more and requires more care when washing.
The turtleneck determines how you wear the sweater in practice. It completely encloses your neck, which is pleasant when it's windy in the arena or when you have to go out into the pasture early in the morning. However, it cannot be opened. If you get warm while mucking out or lunging, you can only take off an entire layer instead of ventilating for a bit.
The sleeves and hem have fine ribbed cuffs. This is more than just a finish: ribbed cuffs stay in place when you pull up your arms to adjust a blanket or hang up a bridle, and the hem is less likely to ride up under a bodywarmer or jacket.
The finish remains understated. There is a faux leather logo patch on the sleeve; otherwise, Boss lets the cable pattern do the talking. Keep in mind that a cable knit structure has more volume than a flat sweater. Under a fitted show jacket, it can quickly feel bulky; under a looser winter jacket, you won't notice it.
The Jordan is not tied to one discipline and was not developed as riding wear. It belongs in the stable, on the way to the riding school, and beyond. If you want a layer that you can easily open and close while riding to regulate your warmth, a zippered pullover is a better fit. If you are looking for maximum insulation in real freezing weather, choose wool or a lined jacket.
