Product Information
The Boss Equestrian Jerome Cable Knit Troyer is a knitted jumper with a short zip on a stand-up collar and a distinctive cable knit structure. Boss Equestrian describes this model as a smart, warm garment for cold days. It is not technical riding wear, but a layer that you can wear just as well in the stable as outside.
The fabric consists of 55% acrylic and 45% cotton. This ratio does two things at once: the cotton makes the inside soft and skin-friendly, while the acrylic keeps the weight down and helps the cable pattern maintain its shape. A pure wool jumper insulates more strongly, but also builds up more weight and volume under a jacket.
The real difference with a regular collar is the short zip. When mucking out, lunging or carrying bales, you get warmer faster than you expect, and then you can open the zip a bit to release heat without taking off an entire layer. If you then get on, you can close it again up to your chin.
Boss Equestrian has finished the zip with Alcantara along the tape. This is not just decoration: with a closed collar, the top of the zip rests directly against your throat, and this soft trim keeps the metal off your skin. The stand-up collar closes high enough to keep out draughts when it's windy in the arena.
The sleeves and hem have ribbed cuffs. Boss explicitly links these to fit and shape retention, and you can tell: the sleeves stay put when you push them up to straighten a blanket, and the hem is less likely to creep up under a bodywarmer. A discreet imitation leather logo patch completes the finish.
The Jerome is not tied to a single discipline and is not positioned by Boss Equestrian as technical riding wear. It belongs in the stable, on the road and in everyday life. If you are looking for a thin, elastic layer to actually ride in, a technical training shirt is more suitable. If you prefer a fully closed neck without a zip, look for a model with a fixed roll neck.
