Size chart

The correct size is essential for both comfort and performance in equestrian sports. At Maddelin Equestrian, we are happy to help you choose the right size, so that your equipment fits perfectly - whether it's riding apparel, helmets, boots, or accessories.
A well-fitting outfit not only provides more comfort but also better performance in the saddle. Clothing that is too tight or too loose can restrict your freedom of movement and affect your aids. Therefore, we recommend always measuring accurately and using our size charts as a guide.
Our size charts are organized by product category and brand, allowing you to choose as specifically as possible. Since fits can vary by brand, you will find specific information with each product to guide you.

Product Information
The Boss Equestrian James is a pair of men's riding breeches with silicone knee patches and a sporty, close-fitting cut. The Power Sport stretch fabric moves with you completely, and the legs are finished without seams so they lie flat inside your riding boots. Breeches for riders who train daily and want hold at the knee.
About these breeches
The James is the Knee Grip version: the silicone sits on the inside of the knee, at the point where your leg meets the saddle. That is where hold benefits you most, while your pelvis stays free. It makes the model usable for riders who alternate between sitting and light seat, rather than riding seated all the time.
The fabric is Power Sport, a technical material with plenty of stretch. That stretch means the breeches give when you mount, rise to the trot and bring your leg back, and then shape themselves to your body again. The sporty fit sits close without pinching. The fabric also has UV protection built in, a property of the material itself.
At the bottom, the legs are finished without seams. It is a small detail with a lot of effect: where a seam can press or rub inside a long riding boot, here a flat piece of fabric lies against your lower leg. On longer training days you notice that difference.
The BOSS logo on the left leg gives the breeches their recognisable look. The breeches are machine washable, which keeps daily care simple. You can get them in Pumice, Pine Grove and Sky Captain: three understated colours for training and yard work.
Key benefits
- Silicone knee patches for stability at the contact point with the saddle
- Power Sport stretch fabric that moves with you completely
- Seamless legs that sit comfortably in long riding boots
- Sporty, close-fitting cut
- Fabric with UV protection
- Machine washable, simple to care for
Practical advice
The sizes are given in men's sizing: XS is men's 44, S is 46, M is 48 and L is 50. Not every colour runs through every size: Pine Grove goes from XS to L, Pumice comes in S, M and L, and Sky Captain in XS, S and L.
The seamless finish at the bottom works best with a thin riding sock, so the leg really lies flat against your leg inside the boot. Wash the breeches inside out and use no fabric softener on the knee patches, as it leaves a film over the silicone. Let them air-dry rather than tumble dry. The exact washing temperature is on the label inside the breeches.
When to choose these breeches
These breeches suit riders who train daily, who prefer grip at the knee over a full silicone seat, and who pay particular attention to comfort inside the boot. The understated colours make them suitable for training and yard work.
If you ride mainly seated and want maximum stability across the entire seat, a Full Grip model from our range makes more sense. If you want breeches for competitions where white is compulsory, you need a different model: Pumice, Pine Grove and Sky Captain are not competition whites. The manufacturer also does not mention pockets on this model; if you need them, look at a version where they are listed.

Frequently asked questions
Which size should I take?
The sizes are converted to men's sizing: XS is men's 44, S is 46, M is 48 and L is 50. The Power Sport fabric has plenty of stretch and moves with you.
Which colours does the James come in?
In Pumice, Pine Grove and Sky Captain. Pine Grove runs from XS to L, Pumice comes in S, M and L, Sky Captain in XS, S and L.
What is the difference between Full Grip and Knee Grip?
With Knee Grip, the silicone sits only on the inside of the knee. With Full Grip, it runs across the entire seat. Knee Grip gives more freedom of movement in light seat, Full Grip more hold in the seat.
Are these breeches suitable for competition?
The manufacturer describes this model as performance riding breeches, without a specific competition reference. The three colours are not competition white, so for classes where white is compulsory you need a different model.
How do I wash these breeches?
The breeches are machine washable. No temperature is stated, so follow the label. Wash them inside out, without fabric softener on the knee patches, and let them air-dry.
What does a seamless finish at the legs mean?
There is no seam at the bottom of the leg. The fabric therefore lies flat against your lower leg inside a long riding boot, without a pressure point.
What is Power Sport?
That is the technical fabric of these breeches: a material with plenty of stretch, which also has UV protection built in.
