Between two sizes? We usually recommend the larger size, unless stated otherwise on the product. In our experience, Italian brands (such as Animo, Cavalleria Toscana and Vestrum) tend to come up small.
Rugs
How to measure your horse: using a soft tape measure, measure from the centre of the chest, over the point of the shoulder, horizontally along the body to the furthest point of the hindquarters. This is the total length.
Always check the brand's size chart. A rug size in cm (for example 125 or 145) is the back length for most brands, and how it converts to feet differs per brand. Some brands, such as Bucas, also measure differently. That's why every rug comes with the brand's own size information.
The table below converts the total length from feet to cm. This conversion is the same for every brand.

Product Information
The Boss Equestrian James Knee Grip is a pair of technical men's riding breeches with silicone knee patches, made in a mottled look. The breeches are made from breathable Power Sport fabric with a high elastane content, which lets them give smoothly in the saddle. They are intended for riders looking for targeted grip at the knee, without a full silicone seat.
About these breeches
The James is the Knee Grip version within the Boss Equestrian range. That means the silicone grip is limited to knee height and does not continue over the seat and the full inside of the leg. Your knee therefore lies stably against the saddle, while your pelvis stays free to follow the movement and to reposition yourself easily in the saddle. For riders who deliberately do not want Full Grip, that is the essential difference.
The silicone knee patches are worked seamlessly into the front section of the legs. That way you feel no seam edges under your knee, exactly where your leg makes the longest and firmest contact with the saddle flap.
The material consists of 74% polyamide and 26% elastane. That high elastane share is what you notice in the saddle: the fabric stretches with you when you tense your leg or let your hip follow, and then pulls tight again. Boss Equestrian also describes this Power Sport fabric as breathable, which makes wearing it more comfortable during active training and longer sessions.
The waist has a shaped waistband that follows the back instead of cutting straight across. The breeches close with a zip and one hook fastening, on which the Boss logo is applied. At the bottom of the legs, jersey inserts are worked in, so the leg disappears smoothly and without folds under your boot.
The finish stays recognisable without overshadowing the technical function. On the left thigh there is a silicone logo patch; at the back, a belt loop is finished with the distinctive Signature Stripe band. The mottled look gives the breeches a calmer, less flat appearance than a plain fabric.
The James is suitable for various disciplines and lends itself to daily training as well as other riding sessions.
