Between two sizes? We usually recommend the larger size, unless stated otherwise on the product. In our experience, Italian brands (such as Animo, Cavalleria Toscana and Vestrum) tend to come up small.
Rugs
How to measure your horse: using a soft tape measure, measure from the centre of the chest, over the point of the shoulder, horizontally along the body to the furthest point of the hindquarters. This is the total length.
Always check the brand's size chart. A rug size in cm (for example 125 or 145) is the back length for most brands, and how it converts to feet differs per brand. Some brands, such as Bucas, also measure differently. That's why every rug comes with the brand's own size information.
The table below converts the total length from feet to cm. This conversion is the same for every brand.

The Boss Equestrian Jacob Puffer Vest is a padded sleeveless bodywarmer, designed for riders who want to keep their torso warm while allowing their shoulders and arms complete freedom of movement. Boss Equestrian describes the model as a high-quality padded bodywarmer that provides warmth without restricting freedom of movement, with an even stitching structure that keeps the filling evenly distributed.
About this bodywarmer
For the two colours, Boss specifies two different outer fabrics. Birchwood is made of 70% polyester and 30% polyamide with a weight of 152 g/m², Grey in 100% polyamide 15D 480T with coating. Both qualities are given the same specifications by Boss: a water column of 10,000 mm and a breathability value of 10,000 MVP according to JIS.
Boss Equestrian describes the vest as wind and waterproof. For a Belgian winter, this is particularly useful during stable work and outdoor rides in strong winds: your torso remains protected while the filling retains warmth around your core. Since the provided product specifications do not offer further explanation for these values beyond the JIS mention, no additional protection claims are associated with them here.
The sporty stand-up collar keeps the wind off your neck and is finished on the inside with ribbed knitwear that feels soft against the skin. The vest closes with a full-length zipper and has two side pockets with zippers, where you can warm your hands or store small items during stable work.
The finish remains deliberately understated. On the chest is a discreet imitation leather logo patch, the only clear branding on an otherwise quietly designed vest. The even stitching extends over the front and back panels, giving the model a sleek, modern line.
You choose a bodywarmer when your torso needs warmth but you want to keep your arms completely free, for example during lunging, grooming, or stable work. The Jacob is thin enough to be worn under a looser winter jacket and works equally well as an outer layer over a sweater or fleece. If you want your arms to also be protected during longer outdoor rides in the cold, a padded jacket with sleeves like the Jeff Hybrid Puffer is the more logical choice.
