Between two sizes? We usually recommend the larger size, unless stated otherwise on the product. In our experience, Italian brands (such as Animo, Cavalleria Toscana and Vestrum) tend to come up small.
Rugs
How to measure your horse: using a soft tape measure, measure from the centre of the chest, over the point of the shoulder, horizontally along the body to the furthest point of the hindquarters. This is the total length.
Always check the brand's size chart. A rug size in cm (for example 125 or 145) is the back length for most brands, and how it converts to feet differs per brand. Some brands, such as Bucas, also measure differently. That's why every rug comes with the brand's own size information.
The table below converts the total length from feet to cm. This conversion is the same for every brand.

The Boss Equestrian Hazel Knee Grip are women's riding breeches with a regular rise and soft, ergonomic knee grips. BOSS makes them in ultra-lightweight power-stretch that breathes and dries quickly, with 73% polyamide and 27% elastane. A BOSS logo patch sits on the left leg. Maddelin stocks the Hazel in Tealeaf and Tortoise, in XS, S and M.
About these breeches
The Hazel in Tealeaf and Tortoise is BOSS article B8W1302 from the Boss Equestrian FW26 collection. It is the only pair in the BOSS range at Maddelin for which the brand explicitly states a regular rise. That makes it the counterpart of the Hannah, which comes in the same seasonal colours but sits high on the waist.
Soft, ergonomic knee grips
The grip sits at the knee. BOSS describes the knee grips as soft and ergonomic. There is no grip on the seat. Knee Grip is not only worn for show jumping. Some brands call their Full Grip models 'dressage' and their Knee Grip models 'jumping'; that tells you about the grip type, not about who wears the breeches.
Ultra-lightweight power-stretch
The fabric is an ultra-lightweight power-stretch with 73% polyamide and 27% elastane. BOSS calls it breathable and quick-drying. The Hazel in white and black is a different article: that one is a breathable power-stretch with 75% polyamide and 25% elastane.
Finish
A BOSS logo patch on the left leg is the only visible brand detail BOSS mentions for this article. The brand gives no information on pockets or fastening for this Hazel.
Colours, sizes and use
Maddelin stocks the Hazel in Tealeaf and Tortoise, in sizes XS, S and M; BOSS makes the model from XXS to XL. Both colours are intended for training and everyday riding. White is allowed in all disciplines; off-white is also allowed in FEI dressage, light fawn in FEI showjumping. Maddelin also stocks the Hazel in white. Rules differ by federation, discipline, level and country and change regularly: check your federation's current rules.
Within the BOSS range
Put the seasonal models side by side and the choice comes down mainly to waist and grip. The Hazel combines Knee Grip with a regular waist, the Hannah Knee Grip with a high waist, and the Hailey High Waist Full Grip with a high waist and a zip and hook fastening.
Care
BOSS specifies a delicate wash at 30 °C. Bleaching, tumble drying, ironing and dry cleaning are not allowed.
