Between two sizes? We usually recommend the larger size, unless stated otherwise on the product. In our experience, Italian brands (such as Animo, Cavalleria Toscana and Vestrum) tend to come up small.

Rugs

How to measure your horse: using a soft tape measure, measure from the centre of the chest, over the point of the shoulder, horizontally along the body to the furthest point of the hindquarters. This is the total length.

Always check the brand's size chart. A rug size in cm (for example 125 or 145) is the back length for most brands, and how it converts to feet differs per brand. Some brands, such as Bucas, also measure differently. That's why every rug comes with the brand's own size information.

The table below converts the total length from feet to cm. This conversion is the same for every brand.

Product Information

The Boss Equestrian Hampton Saddle Pad Jump Teddy is a jumping saddle pad with a striking faux teddy fur edge, the distinctive Double B quilting and an embroidered Boss logo. The outside is made of polyester and cotton, with an insulating middle layer underneath and a cotton lining on the coat side. The model is developed for use under a jumping saddle, both in training and at competitions.

About this saddle pad

The Hampton Jump Teddy saddle pad combines the functional material build-up of a jumping saddle pad with the recognisable finish of Boss Equestrian. What sets this Teddy version apart visually is the faux teddy fur edge that runs along the finish of the pad. That soft, fluffy binding gives the Hampton model its own character and makes the pad stand out immediately, even under a dark saddle. It is faux fur, not animal fur.

Underneath that finish sits a multi-layer construction. The outside consists of 65% polyester and 35% cotton. Inside there is an insulating layer of 100% polyester, and on the side that lies against the coat a lining of 100% cotton is worked in. Each layer therefore has its own composition: the cotton lies against your horse, the polyester blend takes care of the outside and the middle layer provides the build-up of the pad.

The pad is quilted with the Double B quilting from Boss Equestrian. That stitching is not merely decorative: it holds the different material layers in place so the build-up cannot shift or clump together. On the left side the whole is finished with an embroidered Boss logo. Together with the teddy edge, that delivers a pronounced Boss Equestrian design without losing sight of its function as a jumping saddle pad.

You use the Hampton Saddle Pad Jump Teddy as a layer between your horse and the jumping saddle. When saddling up, make sure the pad lies flat, does not fold anywhere and is correctly positioned under the saddle. A fold under the saddle tree is the most common cause of uneven pressure, and you avoid it by first pulling the pad high into the wither and only then tightening the girth.

The teddy edge is the most delicate finish on this pad. Treat that binding with some care and avoid rough brushing, so the faux fur keeps its full texture. If you find this version too pronounced, you can turn to the version without the teddy binding within the same Hampton model, with the same material build-up.

This model is specifically intended for show jumping. It suits jumping riders who want a functional pad with a cotton lining against the coat, and who at the same time go for a finish that stands out. In training and at a competition the pad does the same work: a well-groomed layer between horse and jumping saddle.

If you prefer the same material composition with a quieter appearance, the version without the teddy binding is the more logical choice. And if you ride with a dressage saddle, take a saddle pad designed specifically for the longer, straighter shape of a dressage saddle: a jumping shape does not match it well.
