Product Information
The Boss Equestrian Chicago Ear Bonnet Teddy is a crocheted ear bonnet with ears made of teddy faux fur. An embroidered BOSS logo is featured on the browband. It is the more wintery version of the Chicago: the same crocheted body, but with a visibly softer and fuller ear detail.
The body is made of 100% cotton and the ears are 100% polyester. This distinction is functional. Cotton lies against the forehead and cheeks, where the crownpiece and browband of your bridle press, and absorbs sweat instead of remaining damp. The polyester teddy fabric of the ears is more resilient and retains its volume, even after the bonnet has been folded in your grooming bag for some time.
The teddy ears are the distinguishing element. Where a regular crocheted ear is thin and open, the teddy fabric is denser and fluffier, creating a fuller line around the ear. BOSS describes the ears exclusively as teddy faux fur and does not attribute any insulating or sound-dampening function to them. Since the provided product specifications do not offer further explanation, no claims regarding warmth or dampening are made here either.
BOSS is reserved regarding sizing. Unlike the smooth Chicago version, the manufacturer does not state explicit size indications for this model, nor are ear length or dimensions provided. The bonnet is supplied in one size. If you are unsure about the fit, place the bonnet loosely on the horse first to see how the ears lie before putting the bridle over it.
The finish remains understated. Besides the embroidered BOSS logo, there is no other embellishment, and the black color keeps the overall look neutral. This allows the bonnet to easily combine with a black bridle and most saddle pads in the stable.
The Chicago Ear Bonnet Teddy is not tied to one discipline and suits both training and daily stable work. If you want to wear it in competitions, please check your federation's regulations beforehand, as rules regarding ear bonnets vary by discipline and test, and a prominent ear detail may not be permitted everywhere. If you are looking for a sleeker, airier bonnet for warm days or a classic competition look, the regular Chicago Ear Bonnet with crocheted ears is the more logical choice.
