Product Information
The Boss Equestrian Chicago Ear Net is a crocheted ear net for under the bridle, finished with an embroidered BOSS logo on the browband part. BOSS supplies the model in one version and indicates that it is suitable for Full size, the common horse size on which most bridles are built.
The material composition is deliberately split: the body is made of 100% cotton and the ears are made of 100% polyester. Cotton rests against the forehead and cheeks, precisely where the headpiece and browband press, and it absorbs sweat instead of remaining clammy. Polyester is more dimensionally stable and resilient than cotton, so the ears maintain their shape and do not hang limply against the pinna.
That the net is crocheted is mainly noticeable in the fit. Crochet work stretches in all directions, causing the body to tension around the forehead and stay where you put it. If you place it under the browband and behind the headpiece, the bridle clamps the net in place and it does not slide backward during riding. The open stitch also allows air to pass through, which helps on a warm day under a snug bridle.
BOSS does not provide specifications on the ear length and exact dimensions. Ear nets vary greatly in this regard, and whether your horse's ears are fully covered depends on its head shape. If you are unsure about the fit for a large warmblood or a fine head, compare it with an ear net you already have.
The finish remains understated. On the browband part is the embroidered BOSS logo, otherwise there is no embellishment. This allows the four colors Tealeaf, Sky Captain, Deep Purple, and Walnut to be easily combined with a black or brown bridle, even if you deliberately want an understated overall look.
The Chicago Ear Net is not tied to one discipline and can be worn both during training and outside of it. If you want to use it in competitions, check the regulations of your federation or competition organizer beforehand, as the rules regarding ear nets vary per discipline and per test. If you are looking for a warmer, more wintery version, the Chicago Ear Net Teddy with faux fur ears is the more logical choice.
