Boss Equestrian Ava Function Cardigan Vest Ladies

The Boss Equestrian Ava Function Cardigan is a sporty mid-layer with a full-length zipper. Boss itself describes the model as a second layer jacket: you wear it over a training shirt and under your jacket, or on milder days simply as an outer layer. It is therefore not a classic knitted cardigan, but a functional garment that can keep up with what you do in the stable and in the arena.

The fabric consists of 85% polyamide and 15% elastane, processed as interlock with a fabric weight of 280 g/m². This elastane content gives the material stretch, which is especially noticeable when you bring your shoulders and arms forward in the saddle. With 280 g/m², you are also in a solid mid-range: not a super thin layer, but also not a thick jacket.

The neck features a standing collar and the cuffs are finished with ribbed jersey cuffs. These cuffs fit snugly around the wrist. Practical when wearing gloves or when you don't want your sleeve to ride up while grooming or saddling.

On the sides are zip pockets, and the front closure runs the full length. The fact that your pockets can actually close is worth more than it sounds: your phone stays where it belongs, even when you bend over to pick up a hoof.

The finish remains deliberately understated. A contrasting piping runs across the front and along the side pockets, and the whole is finished with the Boss Equestrian flock logo. No striking prints, but a silhouette that also looks neat outside the arena.

The Ava is not tied to one discipline: you can wear it just as well during a dressage training as when working in the stable. If you are looking for a real winter layer with padding or protection against rain, then a puffer or padded bodywarmer will serve you better. Boss does not specify insulation or water-repellent properties for the Ava, so we deliberately do not create that expectation here.
