Size guide

A correct size is essential for both comfort and performance in equestrian sports. At Maddelin Equestrian, we are happy to help you choose the right size so that your equipment fits perfectly—whether it's riding apparel, helmets, boots, or accessories.
A well-fitting outfit not only ensures greater comfort but also better performance in the saddle. Clothing that is too tight or too loose can restrict your freedom of movement and affect your aids. Therefore, we recommend always measuring accurately and using our size charts as a guide.
Our size charts are organized by product category and brand, allowing you to choose as precisely as possible. Because fits can vary by brand, you will find specific information with each product to guide you.
How to measure correctly?
For the best results, always measure with a flexible tape measure, close to the body but without tightening.
-
Chest circumference: measure around the widest part of the chest
-
Waist: measure around the narrowest part of your waist
-
Hips: measure around the widest part of the hips
-
Inseam length: measure from groin to ankle
-
Head circumference (helmets): measure just above the eyebrows and ears
-
Calf circumference & height (boots/chaps): measure the widest part of the calf and the height from heel to hollow of the knee
If you are in doubt between two sizes? We usually advise choosing the larger size for extra comfort, unless otherwise stated with the product.
At Maddelin, we believe that the right fit makes all the difference between just riding and truly riding well. Use our size charts as a guide and confidently choose the size that suits you and your horse.
Bombers Drop Cheek Ported Barrel Bit – Stability & Comfort for Sensitive Horses
Elevate your communication with your horse with the Bombers Drop Cheek Ported Barrel Bit. This bit is perfect for riders striving for a precise, quiet, and clear connection, especially for horses that are sensitive to tongue pressure or have difficulty with standard bits.
What Makes This Bit Unique
Drop Cheek Design for Extra Stability
The Drop Cheek model – with a fixed attachment to the bridle – prevents the bit from moving through the mouth. This creates a light, constant pressure on the poll, while the bit remains still in the mouth. The Eggbutt-like sides remain stable against the cheeks, providing extra calm and clarity for rein aids.
Ported Barrel Mouthpiece: Relief from Tongue Pressure
The medium port creates space for the tongue, which is ideal for horses sensitive to tongue pressure. The barrel joint prevents the classic “nutcracker effect” of traditional single-jointed bits, distributing pressure more evenly over the bars.
Independent Rein Action
Thanks to the clever barrel mechanism, you can give precise aids on each side, enabling refined training. The bit's movements adapt to the shape of the mouth, allowing your horse to comfortably find its own balance between tongue and bar pressure.
