About this competition polo

The Binta is a women's polo from Animo's competition range. Animo is the Italian brand that has been designing riding clothing from Cassola since 2000. Here a single version is stocked: navy, size L. That is IT 44 in Italian sizing, EU 40 in European. Unlike the white models in the same series, with the Binta the colour itself is part of the story: navy asks for less care and shows sand and yard dirt less quickly.

The colour determines here where you can use the polo. In showjumping, FEI Jumping Rules article 207.2.3 prescribes a white collar, white cuffs with long sleeves, and a white tie, stock or choker. Short sleeves are permitted, including with a jacket. A navy polo under a jacket shows nothing of that white collar, so for a jumping class this is not the garment you start in. For children and pony riders, article 207.2.3.3 goes further still: there the whole shirt has to be white. In dressage, the FEI rules only say that the stock or tie must be white or off white; they prescribe nothing about the shirt itself. The Belgian rules are stricter and do require a white shirt, and without a jacket sleeves that cover at least the shoulders. There too navy falls outside the national requirement. In the cross-country of an eventing competition the rules say nothing about the shirt. Rules differ by federation, discipline, level and country, and they change regularly: check the current rules of your own federation before you start.

What Animo does not state. The brand no longer publishes product pages, so there is no statement of the fibre composition, the sleeve length, the collar type, the fastening, the fabric weight or the washing instructions. You will therefore not find those details among the technical features; the care label in the polo itself is the only source for now.

In practice it comes down to this: the Binta is a tidy dark polo for days when you do not need competition white, and for training sessions in which you are working in riding clothes anyway. There is one size and one colour, so size choice does not come into it here. And because the manufacturer does not document the sleeve length, you cannot check in advance whether the polo also fits a class with a sleeve requirement.
