This rug is made for the transitional seasons. When choosing, think about your horse: how thick the coat is, whether it is clipped and how easily it feels the cold. When it gets colder, attach a LeMieux liner to the fixing points at the neck and rear rather than switching straight to a heavier rug.

After putting it on, check that the leg straps are not hanging too loose and that the rug is not tight at the front. Wash it cold in the machine, without bleach, and let it air dry rather than using a tumble dryer.

Choose the Arika Ripstop 50g if your horse lives out in spring or autumn and needs a light extra layer on wet, chilly days. It suits horses of every discipline, from dressage and show jumping to leisure riding, that go out to the field or paddock every day.

If it is still mild and you only want to keep the rain off, the LeMieux Arika Ripstop 0g Lagoon rain sheet is the logical choice. For colder months, choose the Kudos Turnout or the Arika Storm-Tek within the LeMieux range, both available with heavier fills up to 350 g.

Place the rug over the back with the front closure open, slightly in front of the withers, then slide it back into place in the direction of the hair. Fasten the T-bar at the front, do up the crossed belly surcingles, then attach the elastic leg straps and the tail cord. To take it off, work in reverse: rear first, then the surcingles, the chest last. Cold machine wash, no bleach and no tumble drying.

What is the difference between the Arika Ripstop 50g and the 0g?
The fill. The 50g has a light thermobonded fill, the 0g has none. The outer fabric, seamless back, front closure, surcingles and leg straps are the same.

Is this rug waterproof?
Yes. The 600 denier ripstop is waterproof with a stated hydrostatic head of 10,000 mm, and there is no seam along the spine.

Can I use a liner underneath?
Yes. The rug has Arika liner attachments at the neck and rear, so you can fit a LeMieux liner when it gets colder.

Does the rug have leg straps?
Yes, elastic leg straps. There are also crossed belly surcingles and a PVC-coated tail cord.

How do I wash this rug?
Cold in the washing machine, without bleach. Do not tumble dry.
