About this rain sheet
A rain sheet has one job: keeping water out. On the Arika Ripstop 0g, that job falls to a 600 denier ripstop outer fabric that is waterproof up to a hydrostatic head of 10,000 mm. The fabric is also breathable, so moisture from your horse can escape. Because there is no fill, your horse does not get any warmer; the rug protects against wet and mud.
Ripstop is a weave with a grid of reinforced threads. If a small tear does appear, from a hedge or a playful field companion, it is less likely to spread. The spine is seamless: there is no seam along the back for rain to leak through, exactly where water sits longest on a rug.
For the fit, LeMieux uses the same solutions as the rest of the Arika range. Use this rain sheet on days that are wet but not cold: in spring, during summer showers and in early autumn. If your horse has a full coat, the rug keeps it dry and clean without your horse getting too warm. When it gets cooler, add a liner or choose a rug with fill.
Always put the rug on over a dry coat. Adjust the surcingles and leg straps so that the rug does not slip but does not pinch anywhere, and for the first few days check the withers, shoulders and chest for rubbing.
Use & care
Put the rug on and fasten the T-bar front closure first. Then do up the cross surcingles and finally the elasticated leg straps; the tail cord sits under the tail. Take it off in reverse order. Machine wash the rug cold and do not use bleach. It may be tumble dried on cool air; let it dry completely before storing it.
