Clip on a clean, dry coat. Sand and dried sweat take the edge off faster than the clipping itself does. For the body this wide blade set is the quickest choice; for the head, the legs and the smaller areas you will more easily reach for a narrower blade set from the same A5 system. If the blade set has gone blunt, you can have it sharpened with us: every brand and every clipper, turnaround one to two weeks, and hand it in properly cleaned, because dirty blades cost extra.

Choose this blade set if you regularly clip whole horses, work for long stretches at a time and heat build-up matters to you. The combination of magnetic blade pressure and a wider cutting width is aimed at exactly that kind of work.

If you mainly do finishing and detail work, a narrower blade set with the same cutting height steers more comfortably. If you are looking for a simple steel blade set for the occasional clip, an UltraEdge blade set from our Andis range will do. If you have a Wahl 5-in-1 clipper such as the Adore, Admire or Adelar, or a Heiniger with screw-on blades such as the Xperience, Xplorer or Progress, this blade set does not fit.

Does this fit my clipper?
This blade set works on the A5 snap-on system. You find that system on Andis clippers with a detachable blade, on the Oster A5, on the Wahl KM range and on the Heiniger Saphir and Opal. Blades from those brands fit one another on that system. On a Wahl 5-in-1 clipper such as the Adore, Admire or Adelar this blade set does not fit. What exactly is M-Force?
M-Force is a technology of the blade set, not a clipper. The blade pressure is regulated magnetically instead of by spring tension. Andis states that the blade set therefore runs up to thirty per cent cooler.

What does the W in 10W mean?
The W stands for wide: a wider cutting width. The cutting height is not affected by it and stays 1.5 mm.

Is a number 10 the same on every brand?
No. The numbering says something about the cutting height within that brand's own range, but it is not standardised between brands. A blade from another brand with the same number can therefore fit mechanically and still give a different cutting height. So always look at the mm figure on the specific item.

Do I still have to oil this blade set if it runs cooler?
Yes. Oil limits the friction between the blades and keeps the blade set running smoothly. Without oil, every blade set runs harder, gets hotter and goes blunt faster.

Is this blade set suitable for the head and legs?
It can be, but a wide blade set steers less easily on small, rounded areas. For finishing work you get on faster with a narrower blade set with the same cutting height.

Can I have this blade set sharpened?
We sharpen blades and blade sets of every brand and for every clipper, with a turnaround of one to two weeks. Hand the blade set in properly cleaned; dirty blades cost extra.
