With blade sets, oil is not a side issue. A dry blade set runs heavier, gets hotter and loses its sharpness faster. Before you start, put a few drops of clipper oil on the teeth, and repeat every ten to fifteen minutes while clipping. Afterwards brush the hairs away, wipe the blade set dry and store it dry. That way the chrome finish does what it is supposed to do.

Always clip on a clean, dry coat. Sand and dried sweat blunt a blade set faster than the clipping itself. If the blade set becomes blunt over time, you can have it sharpened by us: we work for all brands and all machines, with a waiting time of one to two weeks. Hand the blade set in neatly cleaned, because dirty blades cost extra. Combine this blade set further with the clipper oil and the cleaning products from our range.

Choose this blade set if you are looking for a steel, rust-resistant snap-on blade set for a machine with an A5 fitting and you mainly clip horses. Number 10 is the logical standard choice for the body; you add number 15 when you want to finish shorter and tighter.

If you work with a Wahl 5-in-1 machine such as the Adore, Admire or Adelar, you need a blade from that system and not this one. If you have a Heiniger Xperience, Xplorer or Progress, that machine works with screw-on blades and therefore not with snap-on blade sets either. If, within Andis, you are mainly looking for a blade set that runs cooler during long clipping sessions, have a look at the CeramicEdge blade sets from the same range.

Does this fit my clipper?
This blade set works on the A5 snap-on system. You will find that system on Andis machines with a detachable blade set, on the Oster A5, on the Wahl KM range and on the Heiniger Saphir and Opal. Blade sets from those brands are interchangeable on that system. On a Wahl 5-in-1 machine such as the Adore, Admire or Adelar this blade set does not fit. If your machine is not listed, do get in touch with us before you order.

Which size do I choose: number 10 or number 15?
Number 10 leaves 1.5 mm and is the usual choice for clipping the body. Number 15 clips shorter at 1.2 mm and gives a tighter result, handy for finishing. If you are in doubt, number 10 is the safest first blade set.

Is a number 10 the same across every brand?
No. The numbering says something about the cutting height within that brand's own range, but it is not standardised between brands. A blade set from another brand with the same number can therefore fit mechanically and still give a different cutting height. So always look at the mm value on the actual item.

What is the difference with a CeramicEdge blade set?
UltraEdge has a steel cutting plate with a chrome finish and is built around rust resistance and sturdiness. CeramicEdge has a ceramic cutting plate which, according to Andis, runs cooler. Both ranges fit the same A5 snap-on system.

Can I have this blade set sharpened?
Yes, we sharpen blades and blade sets from all brands and all machines. Allow a waiting time of one to two weeks. Bring the blade set in neatly cleaned or send it to us; dirty blades cost extra.

How often should I lubricate?
A few drops before you start and then every ten to fifteen minutes while clipping. Oil keeps the blade set running smoothly and limits the heat that friction produces.

Can I use this blade set on dogs as well?
The blade set fits the common professional machines with a detachable blade set and is also used in dog grooming. We describe it from its use on horses.
