Oil limits friction and therefore keeps the blade set cooler and running more smoothly. After clipping, brush the hair away, wipe the blade set dry and store it dry. Use the clipper oil and the cleaning products from our range for that.

For the body this wide blade set is the quickest choice. For the head, the legs and the smaller areas you work more easily with a narrower blade set from the same A5 system. If the blade set turns blunt over time, first ask whether sharpening is possible for this version. We sharpen blades of all brands and all machines, with a waiting time of one to two weeks, and the blade set has to be handed in properly cleaned.

Choose this blade set if you regularly clip whole horses and speed over large areas matters to you, and if heat build-up during long clips counts for you. That is exactly where the combination of a wide swathe and a ceramic cutting plate plays its part.

If you mainly work on finishing and detail, a narrower blade set with the same cutting height steers more comfortably. Does this fit my clipper?
This blade set works on the A5 snap-on system. You find that system on Andis machines with a detachable blade set, on the Oster A5, on the Wahl KM range and on the Heiniger Saphir and Opal. Blade sets of those brands fit each other on that system. On a Wahl 5-in-1 machine such as the Adore, Admire or Adelar this blade set does not fit. What does the W in 10W mean?
The W stands for wide: a wider cutting width. The cutting height does not change because of it and stays at 1.5 mm.

What is the advantage of a ceramic cutting plate?
Andis states that the ceramic cutting plate runs cooler than a steel version. That mainly comes into play during long clips, where a blade set has time to get warm.

How does this blade set differ from an UltraEdge blade set?
With CeramicEdge the cutting plate is ceramic, with UltraEdge it is steel with a treated cutting edge and a chrome finish. Both ranges work on the same A5 snap-on system.

Is a number 10 the same with every brand?
No. The numbering says something about the cutting height within that brand's range, but it is not standardised between brands. A blade set of another brand with the same number can therefore fit mechanically and still give a different cutting height. So always look at the mm value listed with the specific item.

Do I have to oil a ceramic blade set as well?
Yes. Oil limits the friction between the blades, keeps the blade set running smoothly and limits the heat that comes with it. Lubricating therefore remains necessary.

Is this blade set suitable for detail work around the head?
It can be, but a wider blade set steers less easily on small, rounded areas. For finishing work you reach more readily for a narrower blade set with the same cutting height.
