Measure your horse before you choose. Measure the length of the cheekpiece from the corner of the mouth to behind the ears, and the circumference of the nose two fingers below the cheekbone. If you are between two sizes, take the larger one: leather stretches slightly, but you cannot make a strap longer than it is.

Adjust the noseband so you can still slide two fingers underneath comfortably. The flash strap should then sit looser than the noseband itself: it keeps the bit stable, it does not strap the mouth shut. Also check that the cheekpiece sits high enough so the flash strap does not come to lie on the soft part of the nose.

New leather needs more attention in the first weeks. After every use wipe the sweat away with a damp cloth, let the leather dry at room temperature and then treat it with saddle soap. Grease it lightly once or twice a season, especially on the inside of the straps. Store the bridle on a wide hook, never on a nail, because that marks a kink in the headpiece.

This is a good choice if you are looking for a classic, solid bridle with an anatomical headpiece and a combined noseband, and if your bridle is used every day. The build is neutral enough for dressage and jumping, and for training as much as for the ring.

Can the flash strap be removed?
The manufacturer does not state this for this model. Do ask us if you also want to ride the bridle without the flash strap.
