Between two sizes? We usually recommend the larger size, unless stated otherwise on the product. In our experience, Italian brands (such as Animo, Cavalleria Toscana and Vestrum) tend to come up small.

Rugs

How to measure your horse: using a soft tape measure, measure from the centre of the chest, over the point of the shoulder, horizontally along the body to the furthest point of the hindquarters. This is the total length.

Always check the brand's size chart. A rug size in cm (for example 125 or 145) is the back length for most brands, and how it converts to feet differs per brand. Some brands, such as Bucas, also measure differently. That's why every rug comes with the brand's own size information.

The table below converts the total length from feet to cm. This conversion is the same for every brand.

Product Information

The Vestrum Alessandria TK is a tailored women's show jacket, here in two soft natural shades: Light Beige and Pale Olive. The fabric is light, breathable and stretchy, and on top of that finished to be water- and dirt-repellent. That makes this jacket particularly useful at outdoor competitions. This version is offered in size S.

About this show jacket

Light Beige and Pale Olive are two understated natural shades that work differently from a dark jacket. They keep your competition turnout soft and smart, and they sit quietly with a white competition shirt. Both colours stay neutral enough not to clash with your horse or your stable colours.

The material consists of 85 percent polyamide and 15 percent elastane. That share of elastane is what you feel in the saddle: the fabric stretches as you move your upper body and sits close without pinching. The polyamide provides the light, sturdy base. The fabric is also breathable, which counts on a day with several starts.

What sets this version apart is the water- and dirt-repellent finish. On an outdoor arena a jacket soon catches a shower or a splash of mud from the warm-up. A repellent finish leaves water and dirt sitting on the surface first, so you can wipe them off before they work into the fabric. With light colours such as beige and olive green, that counts double.

The cut is tailored and the design stays timeless, with subtle details and a careful finish. Practically, the jacket works with a button fastening and pockets, so you keep your gloves or a handkerchief within reach.

With light colours it pays to deal with dirt straight away. Wipe a splash of mud off with a damp cloth while it is still sitting on top of the finish and let the spot air dry. The longer you wait, the more chance the mark works its way in. A white or off-white competition shirt from our range gives the quietest look under beige and olive green.

For washing, follow the care label inside the jacket, as no separate washing instruction is supplied. Do not wash the jacket more often than necessary: with a water- and dirt-repellent finish, brushing and airing it regularly is usually enough.

This version suits riders in size S who often compete outdoors and prefer a light, coloured jacket to the classic dark line. It works in every discipline where a show jacket is required, and it comes into its own above all in spring and autumn, when the weather can turn.

If you ride mainly indoors or are looking for a pronounced summer jacket without a lining, the unlined version of the Alessandria in our range suits you better. And if you would rather have a colour that does not show anything, one of our black or dark blue show jackets is the more logical choice.

You close the jacket with the buttons at the front and keep gloves or a handkerchief to hand in the pockets. The water- and dirt-repellent finish makes it especially handy at outdoor shows, but it does not make it waterproof. Wipe off a splash of mud straight away with a damp cloth and let the spot air-dry.

How does this show jacket fit?
The model is tailored and sits close without pinching. The size follows the stated EU and IT values: S stands for EU36 and IT40. If you fall between two sizes, let us know and we will work out the right size together.

Can I wear this jacket over a body protector or airbag vest?
Nothing is specified about that for this model. Because the cut is tailored, it is best to discuss it with us before ordering.

Is this show jacket available in other sizes or colours?
The technical specifications show which size and which colours we stock as standard. If you would like a different combination, we can order it on request.

What does water- and dirt-repellent mean exactly?
That water and dirt stay on the surface at first instead of soaking straight into the weave. So you have a moment to wipe them off. It does not make the jacket waterproof.

Which colour should I choose?
Light Beige is the lighter of the two and looks summery, Pale Olive is a soft olive green with a little more depth. Both stay understated enough for the show ring.
