Charge the battery fully before you start a clip and store it dry and at room temperature. A battery that spends a whole winter in a cold, damp tack room performs less well than one kept indoors. Keep the contacts clean and free of hair; hair and grease on the contact points make for an unreliable connection.

If you notice the running time getting shorter, that is normal ageing of a lithium-ion battery and not a fault in your clipper. Taking a second battery along to a show or a long day in the yard is the simplest way not to be caught out by it. Your Saphir works with A5 snap-on blade sets: you change those without tools, so with a full battery and a clean blade set you can get straight back to work.

Choose this battery when you have a Heiniger Saphir and your current battery needs replacing, or when you structurally want to clip for longer than one charge allows. That is mainly the case at livery yards, for professional clippers and for anyone doing several horses one after the other.

If you always clip in the same spot with a socket within reach, a mains-powered clipper from our range is enough and a second battery is unnecessary. If you have a clipper from another brand or another Heiniger range, this is not the right battery; let us know which model you have and we will find the right one.
