Lister A2F/AC Fine blade 1.4 mm

Oil the blade regularly while clipping, roughly every ten minutes, and certainly before you start and when you stop. The oil lets the top and bottom blade run smoothly over each other and carries the heat away; a blade running dry gets hot quickly and loses its edge sooner. Brush the hair out of the teeth in between and wipe the blade dry before you store it.

Many riders keep a second A2F/AC set on hand, so they can swap halfway through a clip when the first blade gets hot or loses its edge. If you send the first set off for sharpening in the meantime, you keep working with two sets.

For the blade tension, follow the instructions for your clipper: too loose gives an uneven cut and pulls at the hair, too tight causes extra heat and wear. If the cut becomes slow or streaky, sharpening is due. Maddelin sharpens blades of all brands and for all clippers. Do hand them in neatly cleaned, because we charge a surcharge for dirty blades.

Choose the A2F/AC Fine if you want to clip a horse short and tidy with a Lister machine, or if you want to replace the blades that came with your Star or Fusion. It is also the logical spare set if you take on bigger clipping jobs.

If you want to go shorter, the A2C/AC Close (1.2 mm) and the A2S/AC Surgical (1.0 mm) go further. If you would rather leave more coat, the A2/AC Medium (2.5 mm) is the choice; on a dirty or muddy coat the CA2/AC Coarse (2.5 mm, 18 teeth) works more easily.

You get the top and bottom blade together and screw them onto the clipper as a pair. Set the tension according to your machine's instructions: too loose pulls at the hair, too tight adds heat and wear. Oil before you start, roughly every ten minutes while clipping and when you stop. Brush the hair out of the teeth as you go and store the blade dry. If the cut turns slow or streaky, have it sharpened and hand it in clean.

Does this fit my clipper?
The blades of the Lister A series fit the Lister Star, Fusion, Eclipse, Liberty and Legend. If your clipper is not listed, get in touch with us before you order. We will check together which blade system your machine uses, because screw-on blades and snap-on blade sets are not interchangeable.

How much coat does this blade leave?
1.4 mm. Short, but not the shortest within the Lister A series.

Is this the same blade that came with my Lister Star?
The Lister Star and the Lister Fusion are both supplied with A2F/AC blades. A new set is therefore the direct replacement.

What is the difference with the A2C/AC Close?
The Close leaves 1.2 mm and so clips slightly shorter than the Fine at 1.4 mm. For the rest they come from the same series, with the same width and the same number of teeth.

Do I get the top and bottom blade together?
Yes, the blades of the A series are supplied as a set. Top and bottom blade are matched to each other and used together.

Can I have this blade sharpened?
Yes. Maddelin sharpens blades of all brands and for all clippers. Hand them in cleaned; for dirty blades a surcharge is added. Allow a waiting time of one to two weeks.

How often should I oil?
Roughly every ten minutes of clipping, and every time before and after use. Oil keeps the blades cool and lets them run smoothly over each other.

Why does my blade get hot while clipping?
Heat comes from the friction between the top and bottom blade and from hair caught between the teeth. Oiling regularly, brushing out in between and a correct blade tension keep the temperature under control.
