Dy'on 5/8 Rubber Reins

Full is the usual rein length for an average warmblood. If you ride a smaller horse or a pony, lay your current reins out flat and compare the length before ordering; reins that are too long soon hang too low, which is not what you want over fences.

Rubber reins call for different care than smooth leather reins. Wipe the rubber with a damp cloth and let it dry; grease and balm belong on the leather, not on the rubber grip, where they actually reduce the hold. Treat the leather parts like the rest of your tack: wipe down after riding and feed a few times per season.

The rubber surface gradually wears smooth with intensive use, particularly where your hands rest most often. If you tend to ride at the same rein length, it is worth moving your hands a stop higher or lower now and then so the wear is spread out.

These reins suit jumping and eventing riders, and anyone who values grip over a smooth, classic leather rein. They are a logical choice if you often ride in the rain or work with a horse that leans firmly into the contact.

If you mainly ride dressage and want a narrower, smoother rein with a refined line, a leather rein without rubber from our range is the better option. If you have small hands or find 16 mm too full, look at a narrower version instead. And if you are looking for a rein for a pony or a small horse, first check that Full is not too long.

The Dy'on stops give you a point you can feel, so you keep the same rein length left and right and find it again quickly after a fence or a turn. Move your hands a stop higher or lower now and then to spread the wear on the rubber.

Will these reins fit my bridle?
They are matched to the bridles and double bridles of the D Collection. If you want to use them on another bridle, let us know which bit and which attachment you use and we will check it together.
