Product Information

Sprenger 3-Type Bit – Single Jointed – Stainless Steel

Flexible in use – stable in effect

The Sprenger 3-Type Bit is a versatile training and correction bit for riders looking for more control when needed , without being constantly on edge. Thanks to the built-in locking mechanism, the bit functions like a classic single-jointed bit under normal contact, but as soon as the horse becomes strong or resists the hand , the pivot point locks, causing the bit to temporarily function as a straight bar . This gives the rider more influence at the right moment , without constantly intervening.

What makes the 3-Type Bit so special:

Single jointed mouthpiece with intelligent locking mechanism

Only activates under strong pressure – corrects only when necessary

Very suitable for horses that resist the bit or become strong

Ideal as a transition between a mild bit and a corrective aid

Made of durable stainless steel – strong, easy to maintain and reliable

Applicable in various disciplines and training levels

Thanks to its clever design, the Sprenger 3-Type Bit is especially popular with riders who want to guide their horse toward greater obedience without having to use corrective devices daily. The bit offers precision, control, and forgiveness in a single design.

Type : Single jointed with locking mechanism

Material : Stainless steel

Use : Training, (temporary) correction, transition bit

Application : For horses that run against the hand or are becoming strong

If in doubt about the correct bit choice, consult a bit fitter or instructor.

Regularly check the corners of your horse's mouth and its behaviour to see if the bit fits.

Rinse the bit after each ride and check it for wear or sharp edges.

For whom?

For riders looking for a bit that suits their horse's mouth and needs.

When do you use this?

During training and, if permitted by regulations, in competition.

For which horses?

The right bit choice depends on your horse's mouth conformation and preference; if in doubt, ask for advice.

When is an alternative better?

If your horse does not respond well to this mouthpiece, consult a bit fitter about alternatives.

Attach the bit to the bridle and adjust the height so that it rests gently in the corners of the mouth, without creating wrinkles or hanging too low. Rinse the bit after each ride.
